I squeaked when I called for stable bedding. A 35% increase over 5 weeks. OMG!! This makes a 45% increase over 6 months. Straw is looming over our horizon.I know they can't help it, the building industry is dead in the water, as well as a competing use for waste wood coming from the bio-fuel market. But, holy-moly Rocky! My bedding bill is the size of a mortgage, on a starter home anyway.
Anyone who has some stray bedding on the manure fork tossed into the bucket will see the above look on my face. As well as some hissing.
It is a frightful situation! Although my bedding cost has not increased, I am increasingly worried about the availability and what I will do it I must explore other options.
ReplyDeleteMy recent worry has been the increase in price of beet pulp and now the inability to even find it locally. I bought up what my feed store had and they are not sure when to expect more. Something about the wet harvest......
Oh, oh. I didn't know about that. I don't use too much of it, but it has helped with the cost of feeding very lean Zing. It seems everything but the cost of keeping horses is going down. I expect to die in horse-induced poverty.
ReplyDeleteI am already there. :~)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the voice mail phone information. I have only gotten one load of bedding down your direction in the past year, but may have to just make a special trip for the bp.
