Hello October. Nice to See You.

Hurrah! Hurrah! Autumn has arrived. At least for today. Currently 52 F, high of 65 F. My kind of weather. The afternoon will be spent clearing out the multitude of saplings growing everywhere. Take some advice:  don't move into a softwood woodland. Spare yourself. I plan to make soup for lunch, another thing I like to do. I consider myself the soup goddess. That's my story, anyway.

Yesterday was a good day. Laundry, some puttering and a nice hour or so on the deck with an audiobook. Life felt good.

I used the remainder of the shrimp from Mark's family gathering for dinner last evening. This time was cajun shrimp and rice. I have enough for another meal, but I think we will put that off for a day or two. I think an egg bake will be on the menu tonight.

We intend to watch the debate tonight. Walz has said in the past he is not a good debater, we shall see how it goes. I expect chaos will develop. CBS will not be doing in-real-time fact checking.

  1. That was a lot of shrimp. It's what happens when you're used to cooking for a crowd.
I think I'll catch clips tomorrow of the "debate".

    1. You are probably wise. But I'll watch it anyway. Yes, there was a lot of shrimp!

  2. I say I won't watch the debate because I am too nervous. But I am pretty sure I will be biting my nails as I watch it.

    1. Miss, Merry, I don't think it will change anyone's mind. It will likely be a trainwreck, though. Spare your nails!!

  3. I'll be watching, too. Supporting Walz and thinking positive. The more I hear about Vance the crazier he is revealed! He's 2025 to the bone! Awk!

    1. I think he wrote an introduction or something like that for 2025. When you think it can't get worse, they say....watch us.

  4. Walz saying he is not a good debater has me very worried. Can't bring myself to watch.

    1. I really don't think it matters. People have made up their minds. If a debate at this point will sway someone over to the dark side, they were probably leaning that way and if they voted would have jumped into the hell hole anyway. Vance will be a lying bully, we know that.

    1. My husband used to think soup isn't food, Jo-Anne! He's come around.

  6. Every October this statement from Anne of Green Gables comes to mind, "I am glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
I think you are also a Goddess of Bread baking/making.
I think the Gov. will do well tonight. I am so weary of lies, hate, bigotry, ignorance and the meanness that is spread every time some people open their mouths.
    Take Care,
    Kaye

    1. I will remember that quote. I will humbly accept that title, Kaye! Walz was nervous. Vance was smooth. A sooth repeater of lies. The cicility was welcome.

  7. I hope your weather is on the way. It makes me so much more ambitious. We will be watching the debate too. If JD answers the questions holding the same positions he has been putting out there, the audience will see the difference. Walz just needs to be himself. Even tho JD was a debater, Walz has had a ton of experience in the public eye. I think CBS has done fact checking in advance and can throw in some quotes.

    1. Walz was visibly nervous. Vance was smooth. He lied smoothly. It's chiily again this morning but will get up into the 80s.

  8. The leftovers made for a good meal plan, Sandra, and soup is always a favorite meal for me. There's a butternut squash soup recipe in my future for sure. No debate watching for me, because one in the family watching is quite enough. I will be watching anything else, which for me means New Amsterdam on Netflix.

    1. Mark didn't watch, either, Dorothy. One in the family was enough here, too. We had leftovers again. I was glad to have it!

  9. More bullshit and lies, by JD.

  10. I watched part of the debate and was so irritated at Vance that I decided to go back and watch it on my own time.
Walz was honest and straightforward. I already made up my mind so I wasn't too nervous about it.

Sounds like you had a great day.

    1. Val, I think minds are made up. Vance was relaxed, Walz was not. Vance is 2025. Walz is not.

  11. I heard that V is the better debater but that W did ok.

    1. Vance is polished, I'll give him that. That's all he gets, though. Tim Walz is in his second term as our governor. He's not perfect, but he is a steady, reasoning person who is open to advice. He did a very good job keeping things going during covid.
