This is a small room. Two chairs, an ottoman and a cabinet with a TV. One end has a piano and the other a Duncan Phyfe style table. It took me all afternoon to dust, polish, sweep and vacuum. To be fair, I have always been slow, so it shouldn't be a surprise that as I have become an elder, and elder with pain and mobility problems, I take an entire afternoon. It could be said, what else do I have to do? That would be fair. So. At the end of my labors I rewarded myself with candles and a fire.

I was also rewarded by a sleeping Frieda.

  1. Looks like watching you do all that housework tired Frieda out.

  2. Cats are a sleep magnet. Except when they start hurtling around the house. That fire and candle setup is perfect for reading with a cat.

    1. That's exactly what I did, Boud, except I was listening instead of reading. I've been spoiled and enjoy sitting back listening to someone read to me. A great comfort in my life. As far as cats hurling, Gatto did just that when I wouldn't let him out onto the screened porch at 10:00 pm. He flung himself upward, got hold of the blind on the door and broke it. He is the most destructive cat I've had in a long history of cats.

  3. A great way to celebrate cleaning the room. A fire and listening to someone read you a book. I've always had chronic eyestrain, so I listen to a lot of books too. ❤️

  4. A lot of things can be accomplished slowly.
    Looks so inviting.
Sorry about your door blind, though. Cats! ;)

    1. The only problem, as I see it, about being slow is as soon as you finish you must start all over, Rita!
      This cat is not normal.

  5. I think you are working at warp speed. I have a smaller bedroom I have been trapped in for two days now. I thought it would be a morning project. At this rate I will decorating for Christmas in July.

  7. I don't know about you, but when I am by the fire it puts me in nap mode. So relaxing. I think it's time for me to start listening to books on my kindle.

    1. I’m not a napper, Lori. Only when I’m sick. I have a library app on my phone. It gets a lot of use.

  8. Another cozy room!
We have basically 2 rooms downstairs and two small rooms in the upper 1/2 story.
We used to have a fake fire place heating thing but it died. I did like sitting by it on winter nights.

Charlie is the one who curls up on my legs when I am lazing about reading! He keeps me warm and then I fall asleep!
    :)
No need to hurry when cleaning, right?

    1. It's my favorite room, Val. I bought one of those fireplaces to put in the basement of my mother's home when I was preparing it for sale. They are nice. You and Charlie, the two sleeping beauties!
That's what the tortoise in me says, Val. Why hurry?
