It seems like every other minute I have another stupefying, demoralizing notification on my phone. So I think a topic of food and other less traumatic topics are in order.
I was rummaging through the refrigerator freezer and found an unmarked container. I really do need to get in the habit of labeling and face that I will not remember what is in there. I thawed it and found roasted eggplant soup. Yesterday was cool and rainy so why not enjoy a bowl of soup for lunch? No reason I can think of. Because we are in a stressful time I think a bowl of ice cream after the soup is just the ticket. So, we went for it. Then......
Why not indulge in a bit of excess with tortellini, artichoke hearts and Alfredo sauce? Yes, please. I will say, although good, I would like some broccoli in there next time. I have leftover so I think I will add some broccoli to it. When Rome is burning and I don't fiddle, why not indulge in good food? Why not indeed.
As an added bonus, how about a sun-loving cat enjoying her life of luxury on the screened porch? We all should be so lucky.

Hi Sandra, your food looks delicious 😋
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. Tomorrow is going to be very hot and very humid. No soup for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm not the only person fitting in a bowl of soup when the weather cools off even a bit? Eating well is protest!
ReplyDeleteI find an excuse for soup anywhere I can, Boud!
DeleteYummy food (always fun to find out what's in the freezer - I tend not to label just for the joy of seeing what is in there when I unwrap - not really but sounds good, lol!) Kitty is adorable! A much-needed post from all that's going on. Bless you for this special post :) thanks Sandra!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound good, Denise, I think I'll go with that! This kitty is a sun goddess.
DeleteYes, a nice break from the news.
ReplyDeleteIt has been overwhelming, Cheerful.
DeleteThe food looks so yummy.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dora!
DeleteIt all looks good, I am certain I have not tasted eggplant soup or even eggplant for that matter!
ReplyDeleteReally? It's a staple for me, but I have to remember Mark, who grew up on a dairy farm in SW MN, had no idea about it until he came into my life. It's a great meat replacement, Far Side.
DeleteAnything goes! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI can think of a few everything that could go, Lori!
DeleteEverything looks so delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you, Miss Merry.
DeleteYummy food is always a treat.
ReplyDeleteJust watching a cat relaxing in the sun can lower your blood pressure. ;)
It sure can, Rita. It means they aren't getting into trouble!
DeleteBroccoli with it would be yum.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think so, Ivy.
DeleteGrandpa used to insist on soup on hot days. He said it made you used to the heat. But hey, he never had AC so what do I know?
ReplyDeleteI find it amusing we associated soup with cold weather but we eat other warm foods during summer, Val.
DeleteDid I already ask you this ... have you ever used blue painters tape to mark food. Works well and doesn't leave anything on the containers. I adore it.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t Ivy. But I will now!
ReplyDeleteMe, Sandra
