Having a Caturday

Get that thing out of my face, human.

We've had lots of rain with more coming. We can use it. For a short time it was coming down at 1" per thirty minutes. That didn't continue, thankfully. Being at the top of a hill means flooding is unlikely. Still....

It feels like life is on pause. That's how I can describe where I'm at. I have a feeling I'm not alone. Going through the motions, as the song says. The motions today will be making bread, straightening up, scraping the cats with a shedding blade and once again the %@#*? moment of wondering how this became a cat house. I guess because I let them in.

  1. A feral cat once had eight kittens under my grandma's trailer. I thought it would be funny to ask her if she was now running a cat house. She was PISSED as hell. Did not find it funny in the least. I, on the other hand, can still snicker over it 34 years later. She was a good grandma, but a grumpy old lady and a mean mother and mother in law. I miss her, she was quite something.

Yes, existing. Going to the next thing and the next thing. It feels entirely schizo. Like we're all leading a double life right now.

    1. I can imagine your grandma's reaction, Ami.
You described the feeling perfectly. I knew I'm not alone.

    1. It's been a lousy summer, Cheerful. It's not been good for much of the country.

  4. Send some rain, and enjoy your furballs.

    1. We have needed the rain, AC. The rain seems to run out before it goes very far. The fireballs are a blessing and a curse!

  5. Good grief! When is your rain going to get here? You are such a nice cat mom!

    1. I'm not used to being ignored, Lori, but the weather does not care about what I say. Gatto is a terror!

    1. We had a dry start to spring/summer but fortunately we are recovering. The long forecast says a dry autumn, Miss Merry.

    1. I've always had a cat or two, Linda, but I was fully a dog person. Since the last dog died in 2023 my life has become cats. There are so many strays.

  8. Not much rain in the UK. So little that an official drought is possible, despite the country's reputation for rain.

  9. Is being in a Cat House better than being in a Dog House? LOL.
We got a bit of rain last night and friends 20 miles away had nearly two inches. That is how it is going to be I think.

I think I clean up Charlie hair twice a day. I wonder how such a little dog can create so much hair.

    1. Ha! It depends on the circumstances but being in the dog house would likely be better, Val. We've had a lot of rain. It started again early evening and is still raining. Charlie and Gatto could be related. Well, not really 😉

  10. Beautiful! We have had rain here too but we also live on higher ground and there were no flash flood warnings today.

    1. The rain is welcome. Living at the top of a hill has its, benefits, doesn't it Denise
