Cool and Sunny. Not Me....the Weather.

A bouquet of basil.
I picked it, didn't feel like doing anything with it at the time. It's a bouquet for the moment. It's been chilly this week. Next week we jump up to the mid-to-upper 70s F. The leaves on the ash trees are already changing color. Autumn is on the way. We had a good rainfall last evening, which was very timely as everything needed a watering.

Tripod kitty doesn't really care about any of this. Her biggest concern is that her servants remain obedient. We've been well trained, she needn't worry.
I roasted more tomatoes  and think I will use them on a pizza for this evening's dinner. This sounds like a plan. You know your world has shrunk when the plan for the day comes down to what's for dinner. Ah, well. A day in the life.

  1. One of my friends had a Florida condo for winters. They'd meet neighbors at the pool after breakfast and discuss what they were planning for dinner!

  2. I envy your cool and sunny outdoor walking weather, as it's still extremely hot and muggy around here.

    1. It is a relief, Linda. I'm not made for hot humid weather. We have a bunch of cats, somehow they maneuvered their way in.

  4. Who knew basil could look so pretty in a vase?
    Always love seeing your cats.
    Pizza sounds good.
    Enjoy the cooler weather. :)

    1. It does look pretty, doesn't it, Rita. I turned it into pesto, a small amount, that I added to one I had in the refrigerator. This kitty girl sees me as an interloper in her home!

  5. When I pictured retirement I never thought my whole focus would be a grocery budget, food shopping, and meal planning.

    1. Right?! I am a homebody but I didn't think that would mean this much of a homebody, Miss Merry. Food, cats and weeding. My life.

  6. Your basil makes a cute bouquet and I love the lace doily! Tripod kitty is sweet and your coming meal sounds delicious. My sister-in-law gave us her whole harvest of cherry tomatoes. We were talking about doing something similar with them. I don't want a single one to go to waste. We don't get fresh-picked tomatoes too often.

    1. My grandmother made the doily, Denise. I just pot the tomatoes on a sheet pan with olive oil and salt and leave them in the oven only the are roasted. Then I freeze them.

  7. What to make for supper is always a struggle. I saw a funny meme. Family looking for a dominatrix who will tell them what to make for supper every night:)

    1. I don't think I'd go quite that far, Pixie. Trials and tribulations.

    1. She adores Mark, AC. She gets along well with only one working front leg.

  9. Andy doesn’t like fancy food. Once we had company and I made a great pasta dish that we polished off. Afterwards Andy said he liked it, so I asked if I should make it again for the two of us. He thought for a moment, then asked if I could just leave the flavor out of it. No problem, back to easy-to-cook things for him every night. It gives me a lot of free time. 😊❤️

    1. Leave the flavor out of it! I think he probably wouldn't like the garlic, Cheerful.

  10. It is an every day discussion here since Far Guy is real fussy about foods...they must be soft and tasty:)

  12. A vase of basil is very colorful, Sandra, and one of our favorite herbs as we have a small plant in a window box planter now. I made pesto years ago when we had much more in out outdoor garden, so easy and so delicious but the pine nuts were so costly.

  13. It does take a lot of basil to make pesto, Dorothy, I grow it in pots on the deck. Pignoli ( pine nuts) have become too expensive. I use any other kind of nut. I have walnuts on hand so I use those.
