Good Morning
We have a bright sunshiny, humid day ahead. In a bit I will be heading to the nursery to break my pledge to not buy annuals. I need some instant gratification. Peonies are in full bloom at the moment. I have about 20 plants, some added in and others splits from those already here. It's not right that iris and peonies bloom only once and not for that long.
The wildflower seeds I sowed last week are germinating, as is the basil. I have a large area I plan to simply toss the seed onto and see what happens without any prep. When we have a cooler day I'm going to drag Mark around to dig up red cedar to plant in formations on that large carpet of grass in the front. I know, riveting!
Just because it's what I do, I'll leave you with a simple but satisfying dinner had a few days ago. Flowers. Food. The only thing missing is a cat.

The Food looks amazing. Do y'all grow Dahlias or Coneflowers? Your hostas in the previous photograph look well established.
I've had some nice flowers from just chucking seed mixes around. Usually the following year. This year that's how I got the sweet William and honesty. Labor free gardening.

Did Frieda have toast? Found some poppies yesterday and irises today. Sadly, there were more spent irises than full blooming ones. I found few. They were enough.

Our peonies are popping too. Please feel free not to send me your humidity. Aren't roasted potatoes the best? Sounds like you are still in gear!
The peonies are beautiful! I'm sorry about the humidity -- it's warming up here, too. But not humid. Still not my favorite time of year. 😊

We have hit humid already, drats. I had two nice days of walking outside earlier in the week.
Yes, we do. I have coneflowers but the invasive phlox is choking it out. I have hundreds of hosta, they grow like weeds, Tommy.
Well, that's what I did yesterday, Boud. Labor free works for me.
I do like them, Pixie. Some are now spent others just blooming.
Muggy and hot here and going to get much hotter this week!

As for the flowers? I've done the same thing. The bare spots where equipment and junk was got seeds tossed in and we will see what happens.
Yes, with apricot marmalade, AC. Lightly toasted please. The time is just too short with these beautiful flowers.

I will never adjust to this Minnesota. This kind of humidity doesn't belong in our states, Lori.
It's difficult to get work done outside. Although I don't like heat, it's the humidity that knocks me down, Cheerful.
My menu is quick and easy, Miss Merry. The humidity is why we are so behind on outside work.
It's supposed to start cooling, relatively, by the end of the week. We will see, Val.
I have one more large packet of seeds I will toss in another space and cross fingers.
The need for instant flowers, yes, I understand! I tried sowing wildflower seeds early, as recommended, didn't work. Now I want to try again.

It's a box collecting items to give to the thrift store. The cats do like the idea of being toast, Sue! I saw the price of annuals and cut my intentions way back. I'm going to become a seed save I think.
I hope the wildflower seeds will thrive.

There's nothing quite as nice as having flowers in a vase as they really do brighten a room and I need to get some on a grocery store trip this week. The dinner looks delicious too!
My eyes are playing tricks because I could swear that's a baby bear cub waiting on toast.

Sadly Iris don't last long, Dorothy, but they are wonderful in their short time.
