I think this is all I remember from six years of French, but it sounds so lovely in French I couldn't resist. Whatever language, the sentiment is the same. I wish you all a joyous holiday season.
How nice. Now, I need to find our tree and then put it up *again* : ). I seem to have forgotten all about Christmas! When we find the stereo I am going to finish the unpacking to Christmas Carols that ought to get us back in the spirit : )
I owe Howard a thank you. Since he came into our lives I have had to put a small tree on a table. What a relief to have a little tree to decorate, it's so easy!
My little guy has not been feeling well. He ate semolina flour, about 3 cups Fri. and he has had a tummy ache. Hopefully it will pass through and not require a vet visit. It's like having a toddler, whatever he can get in his mouth goes there.
I was in a shop a couple of years ago and an employee from was a French-African nation. I said something to him in French, at which point he started talking to me in his language. It was my clue that I had completely lost my grasp of the language. I UNDERSTOOD NOTHING! What a disappointment. I think I'm going to pick it up again, as well as Spanish. Spanish is more useful, but French is so beautiful. : )
My French has never been all that good but I could get by for basic things. Dearest doesn't speak anything but mangled English so when he wanted a good old Aussie pie or at a pinch a sausage roll he set me into the patissiere to ask what the long pastry in the window was. I assured him it was extremely unlikely to be anything he wanted but he was very insistent ~ & very desparate! lol. I can ask what something is but was completely unprepared for the owner's delight in having a tourist completely mangle her beautiful language! I got paragraphs & paragraphs of French back of which I understood exactly one word....Chocolate!!!! Still cracks me up.
