The first fire of the season.
I spent a pleasant afternoon and evening enjoying a warm fire and an audiobook, the audiobook in the afternoon. Mark and the cats in the evening. The snow has melted, the air is crisp and the sun is shining. Lori mentioned buying challah from a baker, making me think about making a couple of loaves. It's been years since I've done this. Maybe today, maybe chandelier cleaning. One or the other. Baking sounds more appealing right now.
I mentioned to Mark last evening that I am finally feeling as if I'm regaining some control and order in my life. Slowly but surely I am putting my life, which means my home, to rights. I told him to plan on us both doing a big dust and cobweb removal in the barn, hopefully next week. I have not taken care of the horses or the barn for four years and it shows. Mark has done a good job caring for the beasties and their stalls, but he only has time for so much. The barn looks like a haunted building.

So glad to hear you're getting back. You've been sounding so much better in recent months, it's great to read.
It's good to be sort of functional again. Of course, me being me, I can't simply be happy about that. I want myself of 5 years ago back. Which I do know won't happen. But a person, me, has to have something to grump about, Boud.
It's nice to read that things are moving into place. I love making bread. Been awhile because I'm baking other goodies though I've got plans this week for something bready. Happy weekend.
We have a fire going and I love the way it feels. So different from the heat given off by a furnace. After seeing all the other breads you have made, I am sure the challah will be outrageous. Glad to read that you are ready to get out in the barn. I have been doing it for so long, can't imagine not being out there every day. I want to see more photos of your current horses!

Cobwebs. I know that cobwebs collect in barns. That sounds like a daunting task. We blasted our old barn with soapy water in the spring time to clean it.
How are you planning on approaching it? Leaf blower?
It is wonderful that you are feeling better. We never can go back in time, but at least it sounds like you are looking forward with gusto!
Ivy, bread is my favorite thing to bake. It is good to be able to do more than sit in a chair all day.
I enjoy the fire a lot, Lori. Not cleaning out the ash so much, but I guess Io find it worth the effort. I did bake challah.

I used to hose the barn down in spring and early fall, Val. I will tackle the the stall fronts with a wide aisle broom while Mark does the inside with a regular broom. It may take a couple of days as I will probably not be able to work at it for very long.
I don't know about gusto, Val, but I'm better.
That'scool.I love bread. But since I write formulas for cupcakes, muffins and cookies, I love to bake it all. Mad scientist baker, is my jam.

It is Sunday, so if you're not going to church, you could swing from the chandler, which would probably knock some dust off. Or have I got it wrong. Perhaps swigging from the chandelier is about certain after hours romps. 😊 I try hard.
😄 AC, I don't think the chandelier would hold me. The only times I have been in a church has been for weddings or a few funerals. I am a heathen.
