I took a short blog vacation to concentrate on the many things needing doing that weren't getting done. I succeeded to a certain degree. I got a little painting done and some weed pulling. There is still plenty of both to do, hopeful I am up to the task. We had two days of steady rain which kept me inside, so----
I made bread.
Sandwich rolls.
There was also a rhubarb clafouti which did not photograph well.
Mark found nirvana when he saw meatballs in the sauce. He is easy to please.
Matthew was here this morning to dig up some honeysuckle. He has landscaped much of their yard with plants he finds here. He said he would have paid $60 each at Bachman's for the three he brought home. Yes, he surely would have. We have an abundance of dogwood, honeysuckle, elderberry and fast growing red cedar, all of which he has used at his home. I'm happy to have been of assistance.
This is Gatto's reaction to the morning activity.

Gatto is adorable! Your bread and rolls look really good. Glad you are back.
Gatto looks so very comfortable! Nirvana is a good word to describe this delicious meal. I need to make some bread! How very sweet that you gave Matthew the honeysuckle to take home. A happy rest of the week to you Sandra.
The breads look great. I need to make sandwich rolls again.
Back when I had a big yard, I gave many oak and maple seedlings to friends living in new developments. Surprising how fast they looked landscaped.
Gatto's reaction is similar to mine every time I turn on the News lately. As always your Food Porn looks Sublime.
Gatto looks sorry to have lost the honeysuckle.
Welcome back. Wondered what you were up to. Gatto looks like such a sweetheart and your bread continues to impress me. I picked our first spinach yesterday...so nice and fresh. Yum to your dinner.
Gatto is priceless. Good to hear from you. 😊
Yum, what a great looking meal. And kudos for gettin' at it. I know it isn't easy, but one little bit at a time.
Charlie says Gatto needs a nice blankie!
Of course, you made bread, Sandra 😋 and the rolls would make great meatball sandwiches, which could make Mark delirious.
Smart cat, beautiful food and good energy! Have a great day!
Gatto was a stray older kitten who moved in my house 12/22 and has been a source of laughter and frustration ever since, Linda!
Gatto owns any box that comes into the house, Denise. 😊 We live in a softwood woodland so there are a lot of plants we can give away.
I wish I had oak, Boud. I do enjoy making bread.
I read headlines and sometimes an article but it's so overwhelming I need to be careful, Dawn. Brazen corruption.
He does, AC!
I was up to more than usual but less than needed, Lori! Gatto is either all adorable or all naughty. I don't have my vegetable garden anymore. I gave it up after 2017, sadly.
Like a bad penny, Cheerful, I always turn up!
Charlie is smarter than Gatto, Val. Yes, a bit at a time has to do, much as I wish otherwise. I do love simple, good food.
Mark delirious, now I have a new goal, Dorothy!!
Thank you, e!
The bread looks great! Oh Gatto...somedays I want to be a cat and hide my had too and then nap:)
The bread is good, Far Side. Gatto lives the life. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to tune out everything and lounge on a box!
Can I just come over and eat bread and pat Gatto on the head now and then? I'll sit quietly in a corner and read a book. I won't be any trouble.
Fresh bread with butter, heaven. You were busy, but rainy days are the best days for baking in the summer, otherwise the kitchen is way too hot.
You sure can, Ami. And you wouldn't even need to sit in a corner!
You are right about that, Pixie. I'm going to try using my grill as an oven. It should work. I hope.
Glad the blogging break served you well. Love the bakes!
Thanks, Ivy.
I thought of you this morning. I had the mixer ready and was gonna make a bread. Then, I ended up going with popovers. However, I kept bread off the grocery list so this week it will be bread, bread, or flat bread. Or more popovers. Anyway, you popped into my head this morning.
Thank you for this, Ivy. It’s a good feeling to know someone thinks of you.
