Hodgepodge

Not Gatto. Tabby; aka Crabby Tabby. It's colder outside so he is seeking the warmth of a comfortable chair. We had our first frost last night, so you could say the air is crisp. The horses do a happy dance when they are let out in the crunchy morning air. The old geezers still got it.

Other than another orange cat in the house and dancing elderly horses, not much happening on the old homestead. I continue whittling away at the disorder that's in my life. Small steps. Small steps lengthen the time of the journey, but the journey does eventually end.

As some may remember, I rarely make a casserole. I know, I know.....I was born and raised in Minnesota, land of the 'hot dish', but the hot dish was not in my sphere. My mother never made one, other  than lasagna, which could be called a casserole. I know I won't be making the kind that I hear about, green bean, tator tot, but noodles or rice, vegetables and aromatics, protein if desired, in a cream sauce, well, it's hard to beat that. Add in the easy factor and all I can say is, what have I been thinking.

Enjoy your Friday. Make a casserole.

I love a good pile of hot food with a bunch of things tossed in. Last night we did tater tot bake and mashed it all up and it was soooo good for being tater tots.

Happy Halloween Week and boogie boogie 🎃

The nice thing about casseroles are the leftovers which usually reheat well. It's getting to be that time of year. Last night it was pitch black outside at 9pm. I heard the cat yowling and screaming outside and went looking for her with a flashlight. I found her but she wouldn't move. I'm guessing another cat came into our yard, hence the yowling. Anyway, she bit and scratched me and now I have four red looking puncture marks. Sigh.

Ohioan. We called them casserole and had them several times a week as kids. I made them often, too, stretching the meat with starches to feed a family of seven. Gramma grew up on a dairy farm and my recipes are cream sauce, not canned soup.

Loved hotdishes from when I was a kid. Basically just throw together anything you can bake in just one big dish or pan. Comfort food! ;)
Love the sleeping kitty pic--always do. Something about sleeping cats. And purring cats. ;)

I don't make casseroles that often - when I do I make too much and we eat it ad nauseam and throw out a lot. But...if someone else wants to make one for me - just sayin'! I love watching all animals on crisp mornings. Our dogs go batso. When I had the Haflingers we just had to laugh at their "airs above the ground"! When you want some sunshine and warmth - just check in on my blog! Hahaha!

I know when mom made casseroles they were pretty gnarly. But when Rich's mom made them, they were delicious.
I like a one dish thing. Give me homemade soup or a stir fry type food and I am happy.
I may try a little casserole soon.
Or.
Not.

I made lentil soup (with ham all chunked up in it, of course) and cornbread. It's definitely fall here. I make a couple things that I guess would be called a casserole. And lasagna now and then, although I've never considered that a casserole.
