Saturday

It's the middle of November. How is this possible? I had a realization this morning, even before my first cup of coffee, that Thanksgiving is almost here. Mark ordered a small turkey although a chicken would have satisfied me. He must have turkey.

We are in a warm spell. Yesterday was a surprising 67F. On the exciting side of life, Mark got the manure spread on the pastures over the past two days. Another thing for him to write off his anxiety list. The horses all look good as we head into winter. My old gal, Babe, is a chipper 31 year old who still has her sassy jaw snapping trick. She couldn't be less aggressive but she sure likes to think she is.

A couple of putty tats for our viewing enjoyment.

Frieda blends into the chair, making her nearly invisible. The cats are enjoying the unusually warm and sunny weather on the screened porch. Nothing like napping in the sun. Or on a pillow on a chair.

Not our Thanksgiving turkey, but a nearly grown turklet following the herd. Well, flock. There are two mamas and many youngsters. They live in the woods north of the barn and spend much of the day roaming the yard in search of food. We also have three young deer living there. They are safe here. Private property, no hunting allowed.

We had a hodgepodge dinner last evening. Leftover Italian sausage, onion, garlic with a little wine and cream sauce mixed with a wild rice blend. Also some peppers and zucchini from Neighbor Bill. It was really good, better than it looks.

Our Culligan Man was here to change filters on the reverse osmosis system so we are protected for another year. Well water is no longer all that pure.

Goditi la giornata. Enjoy the day. I'm working on my Italiano, Cheerful!

I'm not just shocked how close we are to Thanksgiving, but how close we are to Christmas!

I don't want to think about that, Miss Merry!

My sentiments, exactly!

I would accept a warm spell. We are right on 0C today. There is still snow on the ground from earlier this week. Looking in the 2 week forecast, I am afraid that it might stick until April. That's early, but that is what it looks like. Stay tuned.

I was thinking why don't you just shoot a turkey, and then I thought about everything else, like gutting it and plucking it and thought, never mind. Would put me right off turkey for good I think:)

No kidding. She really does blend into the chair.

I am in envy of your 67 degrees. It poured here today and we had thunder, lightning and hail down the road. Glad to hear that all the horses are in good shape....please take more photos for me. We have reverse osmosis water too....the very best. We also have many hodgepodge dinners.

Yes! I suddenly realized that Thanksgiving is next week! All stocked up and ready after a foraging trip to the store today.

Frieda is beautiful and sweet.

We had a warm day too but overnight we went back into a big chill.
Thanksgiving is only a bit away as is Christmas. Hmm.

Dreaming, yup!

I don't rely on the 2 week forecast, AC. It seems to always change. You do have a lot of snow.

I've never even held a gun, much less shoot one, Pixie!. Besides, the turklets feel almost like grandchildren, I've watched them grow.๐Ÿ˜Š

I know, Far Side. Where did October go?

Sandra said...

Doesn't she, Ivy? She has good camouflage.

We are now going back to November weather. I will, Lori. They are still out on pasture all day so I don't have a chance until they are up by the barn when the round bales go out.

Sandra said...

I would never doubt you'd be prepared, Sue!

She is pretty and can be sweet, Linda.

In a short while we will be seeing your Christmas tree, Val!

I didn't realise horses lived so long. 31 years, that's quite something.

No, guns here at my house. I did shoot a 9 mm once. I did not like it.
Take Care,
Kaye

Gatto for sure is a guy now, Kaye. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like it, either.

This fall seems to have flown by even quicker than normal. Christmas will be a memory before we know it. I try to live in the moment, but the moments just go by so quickly.

Sandra said...

That they do, Lori.

Thanksgiving has snuck up on me this year more than usual. Being extra busy has somehow made the time fly by. Sounds like you guys are getting all prepared for winter. Cats are heat seeking missiles no matter the season--lol! :)

This post showed up a couple of minutes ago on my feed. I wondered if you were okay. Clearly it was the feed taking a day off.
I had to check this morning before I realized Thanksgiving is next week. I wondered why Handsome Son was talking about it the other day. I thought he was weeks too soon.

Sandra said...

They are that, Rita! Time is passing so quickly.

Blogger can be wonky, Boud. I am not mentally prepared for any holiday, but I usually only have the two of us, so I don't know what my problem is.
