I walked into the kitchen yesterday afternoon and saw the elusive November sun casting a glow across the living room. The sun is so rarely seen during November it felt worthy of a photo. It was much more vibrant in person, but it does bring a little light to a day.
Another news flash; I drove into Waconia by myself. Again! This makes three, count them, three trips in the car by myself. I feel like a newly driving teenager. Well, more like an old lady trying to regain some independence, which may be close to the same thing. It was a grocery pick-up, so driving was the extent of the adventure. As an aside, my olive oil has gone up in price by $4 since a year ago. I have order records so I know this is not my imagining.
I have everything but the turkey for Thanksgiving. Mark will pick that up from the meat locker on Wednesday. There is a farm in southeastern Minnesota that raises free-range turkeys we have been buying for years. Now I need to muster my ambition. I don't know if Matthew will be here. With his new career he will very likely be working. He was able to find a job relatively quickly at a major hospital in Minneapolis. He is happy so far, which is wonderful. To switch careers at fifty-one is a courageous move.
Now, a second to honor all cats on this Caturday.
Happy day to one and all.

I'm glad Matthew found a job so quickly. And good for you on venturing out! We used to have a turkey farm nearby and always ordered from them. Sadly they closed about 15 years ago and we are stuck with the grocery store.
Most of my memories of the turkey farm are of lining the floor of my car with newspapers and the seats of my car with old sheet for the nursery school field trip to the farm. Turkeys are not potty trained and we tromped through the poo to see them and, of course, at least one child would trip in the field.
Great job on the driving and I see the sameness you mentioned with a teenager driving. That's fun though. Go you! Also, I love in the inside of your living space. That fireplace, is that what that is? Soooo pretty.
Yeah for some independence!~ That cat is focused!!
The medical field is short staffed, Miss Merry. He likes the job so far. We don't get a live turkey, but it sounds like you did! That had to be interesting.
It is a fireplace, Ivy. I think it's more like the bat cave, that's what I call it anyway. The prior owner put on the addition. He had spent a lot of time in the Cascades and wanted to have that mountain home feel. So, there's a bat cave.
For sure, Far Side! Small steps will get me there.
That last photo reminds me so much of our tuxedo cat, Rocky. He was my fav cat, I guess.
Hurray for the driving! I only drive the few blocks to the grocery store, but I would miss not being able to do that.
Driving.
Driving, you tearaway, you! Well done. Your son sounds like he's doing well. My son was forced by changes in the job market to move into a different kind of work at about that age too, and it's working out pretty well for him. He looks a lot better now and less stressed out than when he was in software. I hope your son does well.
I just know I would love your house! I brought in a big fern too. Love the way they look, but so many leaves fall off during the winter. Good news about your driving adventures..hope you keep it up. What do you have for Thanksgiving besides the turkey? I would love to see photos of everyone's dinner! Beautiful shot of your cat!
I am curious about the toy trucks in thar beautiful sunlit room??
I hope he is much happier with the new job. It is never too late to change, I guess...although I am not as up to it myself--lol! But Allie learned how to use the steps!! So there is hope for us old girls. ;)
Great cat pic, too.
I'm looking forward to my being able to drive (cast on hand; I am physically able to drive, but if I was in an accident folks would consider holding me liable, regardless of the circumstances). I love your sunlit pic...and that fireplace - oh wow!
What a great room and light. I'd get lost in your house! LOL, wink!
Congrats on driving more, that takes courage and you have that.
The prices of items have gone up. I cannot afford to buy the steaks that hubby loved so well during his last year here.
I don't have to worry about Thanksgiving this year. How nice that I was invited to a dear friend's house!
Keep up your independence streak.
Caturday! LOL!
This cat shows nothing but disdain for me, AC. She adores Mark.
It does feel good to have some independence, Cheerful.
😉
I'm just a wild and crazy gal, Boud! He feels good that he is helping people. It is rewarding.
It took years to get this house fixed, Lori. The addition was mostly done but the rest was a disaster. I loved a challenge and I got one! The three ferns are my porch plants that come in over winter. They are messy but worth it. I have a very boring meal. It's been stripped down over the years to the basics. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy. And a vegetable. It's generally just the two of us. There will be pumpkin pie and I will take photos!
Those were Matthew's Tonka trucks, Rita. I brought them up from the basement last Christmas to put around the tree and decided to leave them. Doesn't everyone want big truck toys on the floor in the living room?! He is happier, 30 years in a professional kitchen became miserable for him.
I had debilitating back pain four several years which basically kept me housebound, Dreaming. I finally found a medical professional that cared and a physical therapist who is a star. I'll never be where I once was but I am so much better. Now getting back on the road is the next step.
That is the term that has been used for this space, great room. I think it's ostentatious but maybe having on is the the ostentation, Val! You have a wonderful neighbor.
Good that you're getting used to driving again. Yes, the price of olive oil is high here too - almost as much as the cost of a bottle of wine!
I love the cat! :)
Yes, I should get used to driving again, nick. At least the olive oil lasts longer than a bottle of wine!
She's the tr-pod kitty, Linda. She adores Mark.
tri-pod kitty.
What a beautiful home and it is so warm and inviting. Kitty is so sweet.I haven't driven in almost two years and then I was an emergency driver when a friend had a breakdown. The first time of not driving it was heavy six lane traffic and I just about had a conniption, but thankfully we got home without any problems!
