Another Day

Saturday was my birthday. I made myself a blueberry galette topped with an extra spoonful of whipped cream.

I haven't been feeling particularly chatty. Neighbor Bill did stop by Saturday morning with a birthday card. His wife makes cards and does a beautiful job. I display them for awhile and always keep them. They are too nice and thoughtful to recycle. Other than that it was a quiet day. Mark offered to pick up dinner but I said no. I had bought steelhead trout and had plans to steam that. Which I did. We don't eat out. That started after I got too busy on the farm and was not interested in showering and getting dressed again. Nope. Showering and pajamas, thank you. Now? No interest. I'm a lively sort.

    1. A galette is like a tart, I think just the French name for tart. Easy to make, AC. I do think you would like it.

  6. Happy Belated Birthday! We don't do anything special to celebrate ours. And we haven't eaten in a restaurant for years. ❤️

    1. Thank, Cheerful. I didn't do anything special, either. We are on the same page with restaurants!

  9. Well I had no clue it was your birthday! What you made is much better than a cake...big yum. Funny. I put on my barn clothes in the morning and if I am not going anywhere, leave them on all day. When I was teaching, felt like I was changing my clothes all day long! We do go out to eat once in awhile and if it's for lunch and a local diner type restaurant....don't even change. Horse people.....

    1. Many years ago I went into the post office. The postal working looked at me and said "you have horses". Yes, I have horses. Even when out of barn clothes I think my skin was permeated with the order, Lori!

  10. Happy Birthday to you! I am not singing though.
PJ's are good. In fact PJ's and coveralls for chores are even better! No one knows you are in them!

    That looks delicious.

  12. Eating out is absurdly expensive but we like to eat out at least once a month to minimise cooking (and keep the local eateries in business!)

  14. A late happy birthday to you! We rarely celebrate birthdays, but i am trying to do better about that because if we dont celebrate us, who will? I have ti admit, we go out frequently too. We both need the intellectual stimulation m, and the comfort of being around like-minded people is much needed these days. Still, I am happy to hole up at home for days on end too!

  15. Happy Birthday for the 10th Sandra. Your galette looks delicious and trout is one of my favorite meals. There are places I can get grilled rainbow trout, which for special occasions my other half dangles in front of me like a carrot for a donkey :) We go out once a week but nothing fancy, unless it's a birthday or something like that. I would be very happy at home in my pj's too. Us lively sorts have to stick together, lol!
