My beloved Howard knew how to enjoy life.
He was a unique character. I know they all are, but this guy had an exclamation point after his name. He left this life in 2017 and I still miss him. I was blessed to have three bassets in my life. They are living, breathing cartoons.
This will be our last abnormally hot day for the month. I think. Rain is coming in tomorrow and it will be welcome. After that I hope to be able to get my remaining flower beds in some sort of shape. Time passes too quickly.
I don't know what I will do today. I know what I should do, but I don't know if I will do what I should do. I have been listening to a book that has grabbed my attention. This Is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter. She has an appropriate last name for a murder mystery writer. I do enjoy a good who-done-it. This one is good.
May we all be like Howard and enjoy the moment.

He looks and sounds like a happy dog. You gave him his best life. Enjoy your day and that book.
I've known a couple of basset hounds, comedians all. And they seem slow moving but when they want to, they can put on quite a spurt.
Awwwww.....Basset Hounds are delightful! Such a lovely photo and great memories of your canine friend. Animals teach us so much, especially how to enjoy life and live in the moment.
I hope you get the rain you're hoping for. There's been so little rain here in the UK we're drifting towards an official drought.
Howard looks very peaceful in your photo.
I do hope the rain and cooler temps come rolling in tonight. These days in the 90s feel like August!
There are certain critters that are extra memorable and stick deeper in your heart even when you've lived with a lot of them in your lifetime. Howard looks like one of those. ;)
One of my granddogs was a basset. Winston, may he rest in peace.
Our neighbors had a Basset and I babysat her when they went to town because they thought she would be too lonely. She was a character, listened fine to me but not so much to her owners. Do whatever makes you happy today:)
It is warm here too, and I am in shorts and tee for the first time. But we are also expecting rain for a few days.
A friend of mine used to say, "It's no fun having nothing to do. What's fun is having something to do and not doing it." That's me right now. :)
Howard looks like he enjoyed his life a great deal. It's supposed to rain here, the sky is black, but nothing yet.
Would you ever get another dog? Basset's do have such a sweet look! Hopefully you will get the rain you need.
He was spoiled and demanding and I loved him through and through, e.
They can be amazingly fast, Boud. My boy, Murphy, was known as Fast Footies!
They are something, Linda! My animals have taught me patience. Some more than others.
It is odd to think of the UK having a drought, nick. He was making noise, working up to a howl!
He was that and then some, Rita!! We haven't had rain yet.
Then you've had the pleasure of the long and low droolers in your life, Miss Merry!
All of my dogs haven't been able to hear me if I can't see them, Far Side.
It's been abnormally warm, AC. The rain appears to be passing us by.
I'm going to print this and hang where I can see it, Cheerful!
I think Howard was content in his rule of the humans in his life, Pixie!
No, I don't think so, Lori. No rain yet.
I enjoy a good who dun it too. I went back to listening to classic radio shows. Those are fun. I love the picture of your pup. Wiggy we lost not long ago and still miss her and Bug was about two weeks ago. I still can't make it through a day without crying. Miss her bunches. You made me laugh on the what you should do. lololol. I didn't do what I should have done today. Shooting for tomorrow.
The pets are our family. When you think about it, we spend more time with them than with most anyone else, Ivy. Only the Shadow Knows 😉. I listened to that when it was replayed many years ago. I, too, am going to do what I should for today.
Howard was a lovely dog, the cutest photograph. Mine has been gone for a long time but I still miss her tail banging on the laundry room door when we roll into the garage. The book sounds very interesting and did a double take on the name. Yes, let us all be like Howard, couldn't have said it better.
I loved that boy, Denise. Being a pampered, loved pet is the life indeed.
Ohhhh, I'll have to give that one a listen. I can't say I all the way remember though I hear, the shadow knows now in my head.
