Howdy

I'm feeling much better today. I was good yesterday and did the exercises I was given to help bring my back to where it was before the ouch happened. We have sunshine and mild weather today so I'm going to take the opportunity and mow the yard. Tomorrow will be the same, which is good, as mowing is a two day project. I think I will leave the weeding to the master weeder, Mark. He thinks that's a good plan and I agree. He's spent three days cutting down saplings and he's still not finished. This whole area would turn into a forest in about three years time if allowed. The speed at which they are seeding and growing, I'm not certain it won't happen anyway. One small pasture has grown a forest of beautiful flowering trees. Who knows where they came from. I planted wild flowers in there years ago when I thought I would try keeping bees. I was finally convinced I had too much on my plate already and it would be, well, insanity to add something more.

A couple of days ago I made ice cream, chocolate chip and walnuts. Note to self....chocolate chips freeze into little rocks, don't do again. Other than that, it's good. I had another dinner based on leftovers last evening, ham. I don't make casseroles often, so it's always a tossup as to how it will turn out. It needed something to brighten the flavor, maybe some heat, like red pepper flakes.

That's about it. Enjoy the day. Practice moderation. Or not, if you are Val!

Everything in moderation. Including moderation.

I'm glad your back is feeling better. It's amazing how quickly mother nature will lay claim to the land.

I have never had a close relationship to moderation, Boud. My mind is slowly catching up to my body on that issue!

I don't know exactly why these trees are multiplying so quickly over the past five or so years, Pixie. Thirty-one years here, they have always been a problem but now they are everywhere. We've given up along the fence lines. There can just be a fence of trees and bushes, I guess.

I was never a fan of moderation. Was more like the energizer bunny half the time and couch potato half the time (reading and writing and doing crafts). Even as what I considered to be a couch potato I was up and down, up and down. Dagan used to tell me--"Just sit down, Mom!" or--"You've got to slow down!" as I banged my head or shin on something--lol! I had no clue what a real couch potato was until I truly was forced to become one--lol! Now my energizer bunny activities are mostly in my head and my old couch potato activities (writing, crafts, art) are the only things I can actually do anymore...on a good day. Good thing the irony cracks me up. If I ever lose my sense of humor and appreciation of the absurd...I'm screwed--lol! ;)

I understand well, Rita. I really never did the couch potato thing but last past few years I've got that down like a champ!! We can potato together.

The ice cream looks good....maybe melt the chips and swirl them in next time. What is your hotdish...ham, a noodle and asparagus with a sauce....some parm might have helped it or some red pepper flakes like you said!

I about spit out my water when I read the last line. I suppose I'll be one of those go for it folks until I am not. But I did take today off and even ---- horrors!!!---- took a nap.
As soon as the spring rush is over, I may even take it easier.

Very true on the chocolate chippers. They do turn to little pebbles/rocks. I'm gonna mow and work on the yard tomorrow. And same, I'll leave the weed whacking to Tim.

Thanks for your comment about Bug. We miss her bunches.

I think your casserole look delicious!

I'm so glad you are feeling better.

It does help, Cheerful.

That might be an idea, Far Side. The casserole is ham, cheddar, gruyere, onion, broccoli and a white sauce. We had some at lunch yesterday and I sprinkled some Old Bay on it. I think red pepper would be good, as the Old Bay helped a lot.

You are the energizer bunny,Val! It plays a big role in why you are in such great shape. A nap is simply a recharge.

Glad to read you are feeling better, Sandra, because yard work can really ear a body out, especially older ones 😏. I to have started doing several PT exercises recommended this week and while i can't say they are my favorite, like yourself, I am trying to be diligent.

If I'd thought it through I would have realized they would get rock hard, Ivy! I got most of the yard done yesterday.

Losing a beloved pet rips the heart.

Thanks, Miss Merry. It just needed a little something.

Thanks, e.

It's a positive sign that you are mowing. Since I am reading this the next day, I hope it went well.

Sandra said...

Yes, Dorothy, age does change things, seemingly overnight. The exercising does help and I have committed myself to being diligent.

Sandra said...

I got most of it done, AC. I putt putt the day away.

It sure is, Dora.

That's great to hear you're feeling better and getting back to your exercises. Sunshine and mild weather in Glasgow – sounds perfect for tackling the yard! Good call leaving the weeding to Mark; he's got his work cut out with those saplings! It's amazing how quickly nature takes over, isn't it? Flowering trees popping up in the pasture – a happy little accident from your wildflower days!

Oh, and that ice cream – live and learn about those chocolate chips! Next time, maybe mini chips? A little heat in that ham casserole sounds like a good idea too. Enjoy the mowing and the sunshine! 😊

Thanks. I still can't get through a day without at least one cry. Have you ever made peanut butter blobs to add into ice cream? I did once and for the life of me I can't recall how I did it. I think it might have been peanut butter, oat flour and maple. Gonna have to give that another go and see if I can recall what I created. They were fun to plop into ice cream.

Now I have to look that up, Ivy!

The trees are pretty, Melody. There is always too much to do and seemingly too little time to do it.
