Cats Day

What the cats did yesterday.

The Black

Tabby

Gatto

Jigs

Frieda

Of course, it's the same as any other day.

It's currently -3 F/-19 C. With the wind factored in it feels like
-23 F/-31 C. Because of the wind factor the equines will stay tucked into the barn. I will stay tucked into the house and dear Mark will venture forth with hay.

I plan to make a lasagna for tonight's dinner. It is comfort food weather, after all. Osso buco is on the menu in the coming week. I love it but haven't thought to make it for awhile now. I use beef or pork shank instead of veal. I brought shredded zucchini and carrot up from the freezer which I plan to turn into zucchini bread. The carrot will add a little something. The cold is inspiring me.

This is as far as I have got with decorating. I'm not going to put up my fake tree this year. Instead I'll take the tree lights and string them around windows. I'm just not feeling it.

We've got the same sort of temperatures. The cats have the right idea:)

I remember cold like that from Wisconsin winters. Not too fondly.

When it is brutally cold like this it does make one want to turn on the oven--lol! Your zucchini bread with carrots, too, sounds enticing.
I'm glad the horses are in the barn. It is dangerous outside here for a while. The cats know when it is a good time to sleep the day away...all winter! lol!

I love the picture of your lights, a tropical palm and snow outside! Oh, and cats being cats!

Sandra said...

I'm not surprised, Pixie! Cats know how it's done.

Awww, it toughens you up, Boud. That's what we tell ourselves, anyway!

I have the zucchini bread in the oven as I type, Rita.

I hadn't thought about the palm in the photo, Dreaming!

I won't argue, Lasagna is comfort food.

It's hygge weather! And it sounds like you and the cats are handling it well. ❤️

Cats always know what to do, cuddle up and stay warm and cozy. lasagna is on menu as well, but not until Christmas Eve. We will be home and invite a fellow resident who will also be home.

Smart cats! Glad the horses were inside too. We are getting your weather tomorrow and I have a feeling that Rebel and Buddy will be spending a lot of time inside. Cold weather, a nice fire and food go together very well. We have not put up a Christmas tree for over two decades. Fun being creative in different ways. Stay warm!

The lights you have up are festive! Stay warm!

We don't decorate for the holidaze anymore, but I still like seeing the lights. Cats are definitely creatures of habit. I still miss Pixel now that my daughter and her husband are living somewhere else. I mean, I miss my daughter, too. But Pixel was fun to have around.

I was considering making lasagna next week, this coming week is my last week of work until January 5th. PAID time off!!! Didn't take a vacation last year, so all my time off is paid.

The leather chair or loveseat looks to be a time-honored piece of quality. I have three. That's been with me for 25 years

Sandra said...

It is sure that, Dora.

Sandra said...

It is, Cheerful. A fire and a soft place to land, what more could a cat, or me, want.

Sandra said...

How wonderful to have neighbors join you on Christmas, Dorothy.

I have put up a tree intermittently, Lori, when I feel like it. I like you lighted branches. It's the lights that make me happy. It's cold again today so the horses are in.

It is pretty, Far Side.

Those cats do take the chairs.
That row of windows is awesome.

Perhaps a Pixel of your own will one day come into your life, Ami. They keep finding me. It seems losing interest in decorating is more common than I thought.

I didn't make lasagna last night but I plan to today.

Sandra said...

It is, Tommy. I have two of them and I call them our thrones.

Sandra said...

They do, AC. And they expect to keep them. They are but I thought a little differently when I had to replace 16 in 2017. Ouch.

Lasagna, a fire, cats curled up...sounds like a perfect day to me.

Love the kitties and what a pretty window scene. Your Osso buco sounds wonderful, especially for these cold and snowy days. I think I would enjoy staying in the barn too.

I love your cats, they are smart...and beautiful! Your last photo is heartwarming. Here in Montreal we are expected to get some very cold weather within the next several days with strong winds.
Stay warm and safe.

Sandra said...

Me, too, Lori.

That lighted wooden lantern has served as my decorating more than once, Denise. The local meat market has what I need for osso buco so I'm back in business! With so many less horses the barn doesn't stay as toasty as it used to but it's still better than outside.

Cats know how it's done, Linda. I'm reading a book centered in Montreal. It's a part of Canada I have not visited. I wish I had.

The tree is super duper pretty. I love lights.

Have you ever made zukesagna using zukes instead of noodle sheets? Soooo good. Tim loves it.

Sandra said...

I haven't used zucchini but I have used eggplant and it's wonderful, Ivy. I also make eggplant meatless meatballs. They are very good.

The Happy Whisk said...

Excellent and excellent. I love plant-driven meals. Your eggplant balls sound great!!!!!

Sandra said...

I don't know how you would make them if you are vegan as they use eggs. But vegans know their way around that. My son helped out a friend who had invested in a vegan cafe in St. Paul. They needed a chef and he filled in for awhile. His wife was vegan for a long time. She recently went back to vegetarian, which makes food prep easier on me!! Eggplant is a really good meat substitute.

The Happy Whisk said...

Oh that's an easy fix. I bake vegan all the time and make many vegan dishes. No eggs, no butter, no problem.
