Unprepared

For this.
We awoke this morning to heavy, wet snow. And it is still snowing at quite a pace. We should not be unprepared, we live in Minnesota. And it was predicted.

But yesterday was spent working hard in the barn and not thinking about the impending storm.

I am feeling better, but wouldn't you know ~ I slipped on the back deck this morning, did the splits as I landed on my knees and heard a tearing sound at my right knee. Getting old is hell. I have a heat patch and a standing wrap (horse equipment) wrapping my knee. The day will be spent in the recliner, I believe.

Other than that, life is okay. I always enjoy the first snowfall. I think it is one of nature's beautiful sights. I think this for a day or two. Then it becomes god's forsaken frozen land. But the first, it's beautiful.

So, it is painful sitting here and I hear the recliner calling my name. Really, I did not need to wreck my knee to spend the day in a chair.

Oh my that is early for snow! It is beautiful, however, and I love winter - EXCEPT for all the slipping and sliding. Hope the knee mends fast Sandra.

Isn't aging fun?!! Take care.

Ah yes, the first snowfall! The last snowfall of the season isn't bad, either...It's all those months inbetween! Is Gracie enjoying the first snow?

Thanks for your thoughts with regard to Stumpy's state of mind. Truth be told, we were both totally depressed after leaving Alf in Caliornia and I don't believe either of us are happy to be back in dirtville. Maybe next year when we leave we won't have to come back! That's always the plan...

So sorry about your knee, hope a day of rest helps!

I am so sorry that you hurt your knee. And the photos you've posted are gorgeous. It's hard to believe that while I'm reading this, you're reclining and listening to snow falling while I'm looking at palms and blue sky and an almost-too-hot sun.

Wow Sandra. You've really been in the wars lately! Will pray for the knee [don't know about that if you don't want to ;P] but the snow ia all yours. Cold, wet, nasty stuff. lol

I literally gasped when I saw the images.
I'm so not ready. As you say.... it's beautiful, but still.

I can't believe you went and hurt yourself.. geez Sandra, you need a retreat or something ;).

take care of yourself. and I agree about the aging thing.

Bonnie, we often get snow this early. It doesn't always last, but there is a lot of it, so it may. It is disappointing that I tore something in my knee. I hope it can heal itself.

gsc, Howard & Grace love the snow, but today was also wet. Grace hates to be wet, so this is not her favorite. You did the best thing you could for Alf, but I know both you and stumpy miss him.

Elizabeth, isn't it a little like walking through the looking glass? In the end, yours is better. : )

Ganeida, I'll take all the help I can get!

deb, I know, what IS it with me. Too bad we don't come with a replacement warranty. I have a few parts that need to go. And be replaced with new, shiny ones.

Missy, it is beautiful. Now I'm over it. You may have it. I think my splits have caused me a problem. I'm thinking curse words.

Oh dear, getting old is certainly not for sissies and we are anything but sissies. You seem to suffer from the same strange malaise of believing that wherever we put our foot on - except our mouth of course - will always be terra firma.

Alas, my derriere can testify to the contrary and so do my knees that sound like in bad need of WD40.

Make thee something hot and nice to keep you company in that chair.
And feel better. I do hope you do.

The pictures are magical, which I can say with honesty since I am viewing them while sitting in a warm house. :~)

The news about the knee is disturbing. From experience, I can say that lots of time will most likely help it, but I know there is work to be done in the meantime.

Snow! Wow, the photos are great though. I saw that you and Sienna are friends now : ) She is so grown up these days! Had fun catching up on you today. My blog log on time is about zero with the baby and the child and the pre-teen : ) but I snuck in a few minutes today. Sorry about your knee, hope it mends soon!

Hugs, Ashley

Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving, and hoping you're feeling better. Winter and aging both stink, don't they?

Checking in on you, hoping you are alright, that your day was good and filled with peace and a wonderful sense of well being, including your knee.

Have a good weekend and I hope to hear from you soon. Hugs from here.

Hi everyone. Thank you deb & Allegra for checking in on me. We have had sickness here, on top of my damaged knee. Both of us are still under the weather, but we are improving. It seems to be a year for illness. The horses still need care and attention, so I am exhausted at the end of the day and not up to spending much time on my computer. We are both looking forward to good health returning soon. Really, this has been enough already.

That is quite a dump over night! How is the knee Sandra? I certainly know that feeling of "getting too old for this". LOL Funny though, don't feel old in my mind, just in body!

Typing with one finger so this is going to be short: how are you? Anything I can do from here other than hoping you are alright?
