I spent yesterday in the kitchen baking. Baking breads to be exact. There are sandwich rolls placed in the freezer and....
.....a couple of loaves, now sliced and most placed in the freezer. I haven't got around to the gelato I want to make. Perhaps today? It's snowing, doesn't everyone want gelato along with the snow?
If you are ever looking for a very, I mean very simple meal when you are hungry but don't fancy cooking, look no further. Cacio e pepe, cheese and pepper. Olive oil, butter, parmesan and pecorino, or just one of the two. I add garlic, because I always add garlic. I didn't make this as cheesy as it normally is, I wanted something lighter. Still good as far as I was concerned.
Now, Debbie Downer here. Someone, who has no business doing any of what he is doing, has taken control of the Kennedy Center and made himself chairman of the board. The board he fired. What will it take for this to stop? This, my friends, is the definition of authoritarianism. Those applauding, stop for just one moment and think about what you are cheering on. Just a brief thought. Let the full magnitude of it sink in, if just for a minute. Use some critical thinking, come out of the fog.
Happy Saturday.

The bread looks great!
Thank you, Far Side.
Well said Sandra! I could not agree more. Piece by piece our country is being destroyed.
You inspired me to make bread , a modified Swedish flat bread. I added cheese on the top and bottom. It turned out okay. I will try it again.
Take Care,
Kaye
Bread looks wonderful. Kneading is something that I used to really, really enjoy doing. Because partly it's fun and also I bake with brown spelt and white spelt which needs longer to knead. Now though, I give that job to Stan, the mixer. He does an excellent job and frees me up to do other mad scientist creations. Happy Saturday!
You knead the bread and I'll bring my toys to help and put them in compromising situations.
Oh the irony of a Trump taking over the Kennedy Center.
Appalling news that Trump has taken over the Kennedy Center. Whatever next? He couldn't care less about laws or regulations or the constitution, he just does whatever he fancies. Authoritarianism indeed.
Pasta is very handy for quick meals. We have quite a few tasty pasta recipes.
Flat bread is a great place to start. Try pita bread, easy.
the very definition of authoritarianism is all decisions regarding government being made by one person alone, without check. In this case we are not sure who that one person is, but it does appear to be coming more clear by the day. How does anyone think these actions will better our country and seriously, our economy, Kaye?
I have a stand mixer, Ivy. I've gotten out of the habit of using it, and really, if I'm honest, I get a certain satisfaction out of beating up the dough myself!
Oh, that would be such fun, Val.. Your mind has no limits when it comes to creativity!
Well then, nick, you are people after my own heart. Pasta is a common event around here.
What really disturbs me is the cheering crowd behind him. They seem to have been mesmerized. If this were a democrat doing this, is there any question what the response from these same people would be. I thought not.
That bread looks wonderful. I bet the house smells great, too.
Thanks, Boud.
Your breads and rolls look fantastic.
I hadn't looked since Thursday. AWK!! I guess I will go read headlines briefly. Tragic!! :(
