Kneading Bread Relieves Tension

I spent yesterday in the kitchen baking. Baking breads to be exact. There are sandwich rolls placed in the freezer and....

.....a couple of loaves, now sliced and most placed in the freezer. I haven't got around to the gelato I want to make. Perhaps today? It's snowing, doesn't everyone want gelato along with the snow?

If you are ever looking for a very, I mean very simple meal when you are hungry but don't fancy cooking, look no further. Cacio e pepe, cheese and pepper. Olive oil, butter, parmesan and pecorino, or just one of the two. I add garlic, because I always add garlic. I didn't make this as cheesy as it normally is, I wanted something lighter. Still good as far as I was concerned.

Now, Debbie Downer here. Someone, who has no business doing any of what he is doing, has taken control of the Kennedy Center and made himself chairman of the board. The board he fired. What will it take for this to stop? This, my friends, is the definition of authoritarianism. Those applauding, stop for just one moment and think about what you are cheering on. Just a brief thought. Let the full magnitude of it sink in, if just for a minute. Use some critical thinking, come out of the fog.

Happy Saturday.

Well said Sandra! I could not agree more. Piece by piece our country is being destroyed.
You inspired me to make bread , a modified Swedish flat bread. I added cheese on the top and bottom. It turned out okay. I will try it again.
Take Care,
Kaye

Bread looks wonderful. Kneading is something that I used to really, really enjoy doing. Because partly it's fun and also I bake with brown spelt and white spelt which needs longer to knead. Now though, I give that job to Stan, the mixer. He does an excellent job and frees me up to do other mad scientist creations. Happy Saturday!

You knead the bread and I'll bring my toys to help and put them in compromising situations.

Oh the irony of a Trump taking over the Kennedy Center.

Appalling news that Trump has taken over the Kennedy Center. Whatever next? He couldn't care less about laws or regulations or the constitution, he just does whatever he fancies. Authoritarianism indeed.
Pasta is very handy for quick meals. We have quite a few tasty pasta recipes.

Flat bread is a great place to start. Try pita bread, easy.
the very definition of authoritarianism is all decisions regarding government being made by one person alone, without check. In this case we are not sure who that one person is, but it does appear to be coming more clear by the day. How does anyone think these actions will better our country and seriously, our economy, Kaye?

I have a stand mixer, Ivy. I've gotten out of the habit of using it, and really, if I'm honest, I get a certain satisfaction out of beating up the dough myself!

Oh, that would be such fun, Val.. Your mind has no limits when it comes to creativity!

Well then, nick, you are people after my own heart. Pasta is a common event around here.
What really disturbs me is the cheering crowd behind him. They seem to have been mesmerized. If this were a democrat doing this, is there any question what the response from these same people would be. I thought not.

Congress has so far rolled over and given up its power, but don't forget the rule, "You break it, you own it." Wait until they "reform" the FAA and air controller system. The next air tragedy will be on them and the lies won't be so convincing.

I totally get that. I used to love to do it all by myself. Super fun. Took me ages before buying stand mixer. I still start to the dough by hand and I also stand by, bakers understanding dough by hand before using a mixer. That said, I am sooo happy to have Stan do the job for me. I make a lotttttt of things in the kitchen on any given day. Stan can get that spelt gluten going way better than I can. But I do get it. I used to feel the same way you did about it. That's partly what took me so long to get Stan. Now, oh my gosh, I freakin' love that tool.

I guess I will never be a bread maker. Every time I see what you are making I get very jealous. I do make the very same pasta dish when I am short on time. We both love it and it's so easy. You are not Debbie Downer! I just posted the same thing about the Kennedy Center Board. What a joke!!!! I sure did see the Time Magazine cover and hope it leads to a divorce sooner than later. I truly wonder how many people are still in the fog. We are not the only ones being abused.

Here’s an scenario for those people.

Pretend you don’t know which president is doing what. You don’t know if it’s an R or a D, but it could be a D. Are you alarmed? Would you want the D president to assume control like this? Do you not find it upsetting and dangerous.
