Monday

Frieda appreciates the changing of the season. She loves, loves this particular throw, it is sort of her color. Maybe that's why. She also likes the large ottoman, where she is able to do all sort of contortions with minimal risk of tipping off. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that this bold little stray, who knocked on my door one November dusk, is five. Time doesn't fly. It soars.

I roasted a game hen for dinner, a one pan meal. Right up my alley. I'm planning to make a ragu today. It is the braising season and I do love comfort food. Don't we all. I am having trouble remembering Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Since I don't have company on holidays anymore it's sort of lost the glow. Mark's favorite is Thanksgiving, which is why I still do the whole routine, only much smaller. I do miss my father sitting back in the chair, hands on his stomach, saying "you outdid yourself". Things do change, children grow up, marry, have lives of their own. Matthew works at a boutique hotel, whatever that means, Monday - Friday, meaning he works on Thanksgiving.

The mess of all three ferns got cleared away, the window sills were lemon oiled and the French door windows washed. I did a terrible job on the outside of the doors. Can we say, streaked!

As it is Monday, the laundry equipment is humming. My one ingrained routine. If it's Monday, it's laundry. My eye is still on that chandelier. Stay tuned.

I did take a fall. In front of a crowd, right flat on my face. Because if you are going to fall, you want to do it big, right? Lol
I know what you mean about Thanksgiving. From the time I got married I hosted both sides of our family in my tiny house. I have grainy photos of the year my teenagers moved all my furniture to the garage so we could fit enough tables in the dining room.
This year my youngest daughter is hosting who ever can come. I think my youngest son and his wife are smoking a turkey. I keep pricing them at the store forgetting it's not me. At this point I have been assigned a pie. It just seems weird. But okay I guess. I have scheduled Christmas for the 21st and I guess as usual we will be watching Christmas movies on tv on the 25th. Time sure goes by fast.

Your house always looks great. In pictures.. Have you noticed how big game hens are now? One used to be one helping. Now my son and I share one, each getting plenty of meat.

I took a faceplant off the deck in 2021, but no one saw it. Thankfully. It sounds like you did it right, Miss Merry! We have a turkey on order from the local meat market, the smallest they have. I may make a pie, just so Mark will be happy. I remember a couple of Christmases ago we sat in the living room with a fire, some wine and the Kinks playing on the streaming device. Not too bad.

Nope, Far Side. Very little gets ironed anymore so I save it until I have more than one item. The ironing board is set up in my office, mostly for Frieda to lay on and gaze out the window. The ferns will leave some more for me, a given.

We have been unseasonably warm, Tommy. My deceased father was in WWII, navy. He was it.

HA! Boud you don't wanna see my kitchen. Promise. I have seen the large game hens but this was a smaller one. We still split it. It's enough.

We still carry on TG for all five of us. 😊

I've spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with my current cat for decades. Divorce changes things. I saw Dagan all the time so I was okay with him spending holidays with my ex and the very competitive stepmother. Then Dagan and Leah got married and there was another side for them to deal with. It will be really odd after I move to be a part of the Thanksgivings and Christmastimes they have at home. But it will be nice. Leah ordered me a Christmas stocking--lol! Changes. Life is always full of changes. :)

It's been about six years since I have, AC.

Cats are pretty good company, Rita. After my son married most holidays were spent with her family. It's not so bad when I think of the stress I put on myself due to my ridiculous need for perfect. I am getting sort of better, but then it is just us. A Christmas stocking makes it official, you are in!

I'm afraid we haven't had a big Thanksgiving meal in years. Enjoy yours!

Thanksgiving falls on us during deer hunting so rarely did I host a dinner...aside from the fact that I dislike Turkey a LOT.
So at first I made chili for the hunters. That was years ago. Now we stay home as there are no relatives within 2 or more hours drive to do Holiday stuff with.
I'll make lasagna. I do like that.
Thanksgiving is chilled here. We have lasagna and a pie for desert.
We'll build Legos and take naps.
Stress free and fun.

Thank you, e. 'Tis the season for comfort food. In many ways. Frieda is odd, but then I guess torties are.

Thanksgiving has been pared down here. The turkey, dressing and gravy play the main role, Cheerful.

That sounds good to me, Val. Turkey, dressing and gravy are sacred to Mark, so....that's what we have.
