Deep Thinking

I think about half of the US population knows we are heading for serious trouble. I also believe that at least another quarter of the population will come to the same understanding sometime during the next year. I thought a couple of days ago about the fact that we were the first modern democracy to form after the ancient Greeks. We have, for almost the entire time of our existence, lived with democratic rights, often flawed, but still intact.

This thought gave me hope. We are not "trained" for autocracy. There is no question in the minds of millions of people that we are heading into a period of just that. We are being told this everyday, by those leading the way. It likely will not stand. This is what I thought. I believe there is a strong chance my thought is correct. We aren't used to being told what to do and how to do it.

Now....after my deep thoughts. I made stock Wednesday and soup yesterday. We have been below zero fahrenheit for a few days and soup was perfect for the weather. We warm up some today and then warmer over the coming days.

I like your thoughts. I hope our fellow Americans think the same. I hope they see what is going on and who is being chosen to lead and their utter lack of qualifications to do so. I have to add their lack of morals and decency, too. It is shameful.

Kaye

It absolutely boggles the mind. I feel like the rest of world is popping popcorn and sitting down to watch what happens. Fucking hell, it's a horror show.

The "we" and "us" you talk of is really white affluent people. Most of the population has never known those privileges. So they're the people whose lead we should take, because they know how to resist and fight back.

Think positive, lets wait and see what happens! Trump won the popular vote and the electoral College so lets give him support!

The half of us that already know we’re heading for serious trouble, will be struggling but laughing our arses off and saying “We told you so” to the quarter that come to that understanding after having put us in this position.

The RFK goofball, or at least his lawyer, wants to get rid of the polio vax, and others too, I suppose.

I just heard he's invited dictators to his inauguration. We're living in the Twilight Zone.

I wonder if they are hearing what is being said by all of them? If they are, how do you reconcile imprisoning opponents, just for example. It is shameful Kaye, moreso because it's supported by about 51% of those who voted.

It certainly is, Pixie. I am worried, no doubt about that.

I'll follow the lead of anyone who has a way out of this.

We've been through round one of his presidency, and that was with some bulwarks in place. Those are removed. I don't know if you have heard or read the things he and many of his appointees have said? I believe them.

I have read, Shirley, that regret is already being expressed by those who aren't one of the stalwarts but voted for him.

It is, e.

Can you believe this, AC. It's like a dystopian novel.

Why am I not surprised, Rita? He admires them and is intend on being one of them.

Anyone who does not think we are headed for trouble is not paying attention. T will back out on all of his promises that he made if you would vote for him. Food prices will rise, he is not going to bring relief to anyone as he will be too busy with retribution and trying to sell his new "perfume." He is producing a squad of unqualified individuals that could care less about the little guy or the future of our country. An awful lot is dependent upon the Senators who have enough gets to do what's right.

I can't support someone who is about to wreck havoc on us. He has told the world of his plans, and they are not pretty or decent. Apparently the people who voted for him don't care if he has raped anyone, is a convicted felon, is all about retribution, is selecting unqualified people for high positions, has repeatedly made bad business deals, has been taped telling lies over and over and the list goes on. Are these the values of those who support him? Don't they care? Do they understand the impact it could have on their children and grandchildren?

Yes, scary. I'm going back to my stress-management techniques to keep calm and and am focusing on living my values, on the things still under my control. Hurray for friends and blogging so we're not alone.

As a Caregiver for a Veteran, we survive on his benefits. If the new regime decides to 'cut' health care for veterans and cut Medicare and SS, well, we are f*cked.
With billionaires running the country for their own interests, it could get ugly.

From here in the UK the prospect of another four years of Trump looks pretty alarming. I sincerely hope he can be prevented from furthering his autocratic ambitions. Project 2025 looks horrifying.
