Oh Well

It's a windy and rainy day in the northland. I thought a lovely bouquet of tulips are in order.

I have not been very active lately. I will admit I am not feeling well. More than the bad cold I have had. Fortunately, I live in America where we have the best healthcare money can buy. Which is why I have held off going to the doctor, because money is the key component in our remarkably ignorant system.

I will need to part with some of our dearly earned and dwindling greenbacks. You know, I live so close to Canada that I wonder if I could get an honorary citizenship. I'll behave. I won't pollute your civil society with a rugged individualism myth or assail your ears with fear, freedom and talk of the marketplace taking care of everything. I'll quietly sip my tea and be grateful.

sorry to hear you are not feeling well Sandra. Bummer.

wish you could come here. Canada's system is far from perfect many problems - or so I hear. My last hospital visit for broken bones in wrist sailed along beautifully - from triage to xrays to orthepedic surgeon, temporary cast, to day surgery bed took about an hour and a half. Wait for my elective surgery a little longer, but I was in a comfortable bed in quiet new room attended to by efficient and caring nurses. Not once did we have to think of the expense, or visit an accounts office, or produce proof we could afford to pay .... no thought of this diminishing our bank account -everything is paid for. Such a comfort. Yes our taxes may be a bit higher but it is SO worth it.

Do find the funds and take care of yourself dear Sandra.

Hope you feel well soon. I know exactly how you feel about delaying going to the doctor, as I often consider the cost before the cure these days. We're self employed, self insured and screwed coming and going. I'm always second guessing going to the doctor these days and it really makes me crazy that I'm one of the lucky ones.
Glad to see you posting though. Wasn't the wall of wind a shock? The trees are bare, there's no pretending that the seasons are changing. Take care, OK?

Oh Sandra! I am so sorry you are still feeling under the weather. Not sure I care for you health system [or your political climate lol] but then we can't even get in to see the doctor ~ & we're not entitled to more drs because, hey, we're not rural! Just isolated ~ but that doesn't count. We're too close to the CBD. You are on my prayer list too. Get well soon, girl. I miss you & your oh so funny posts! ♥

I'm sorry you,re not feeling up to snuff! The tulips made me feel better, I hope they work for you!

Yeah, I went home for an extended visit, only. I hated leaving and reutning to dirtville, just thinking about it, makes me miserable. So I'm heading west, trying not to think about it. and planning to go home next year for even longer!

I do love a bit of sarcasm, and yours is written so nicely.

I hope you feel better soon -- big hugs.

Having our fair share of trouble with the insurance company after my husband's accident. I will mention that it is not the health insurance, but auto insurance that is giving us a go around! Hope you feel much better soon.

deb, I do hope our political hysteria never seeps into Canada.

Now Bonnie, we all know the Canadian health system is socialism and therefore unconstitutional. Why should anyone pay taxes to help society. Sheesh. Tongue is firmly planted in cheek.

Mel, your's is our story as well. Self employed, self insured. '08 & '09 I had large medical bills. It drains the resources. I don't understand our country. This seems to be a no-brainer, but somehow it escapes us.

Ganieda, I know there are problems with medical care , but I bet you won't go bankrupt because someone got sick. We don't get care if we can't pay. And if we do get care and don't pay, the collectors come after you and take whatever you may have.

gsc, I'm sorry you are going back to the desert. But I suppose when it is below zero in the east you won't mind so much.

Missy, thank you.

Elizabeth, my mother always told me I had a sarcastic mouth. She was right. I just comes so easily to me.

Jill, fighting with insurance companies of any kind is no fun. I hope it turns out for you.

Alright, I am not worried about you (like heck I am not!) I know all about going poor because of health insurance or lack thereof but please let me know you are doing alright.
With winter on its way it makes the body take stock and it may need a little push to get some energy.

Do not believe the 500 vitamin D nonsense. We need nearly 10.000 units each week and that is helping me holding some energy for more than twenty minutes, so to speak. Of course the outside world and its madness is no small feat to deal with but this too shall pass. I just want to know that you are alright. And don't watch tv,
I hear it is bad for the soul.

Hugs from here and please take care of yourself.

I hope you are feeling better, Sandra. It is so hard to see people not getting care because money--or more, lack of money...is a barrier. If you were here I would tell you to go to the clinic whose board I am part of...a rural health clinic that offers care on a sliding scale basis and turns no one away.

Tulips are good medicine, though.

Thank you for asking and checking in on me. I am feeling better, but I am struggling with the state of the State. I'll get over it.
