Job Well Done

Baby Zing
2001

He was orphaned at birth. He's quite the character.

Wednesday and Thursday were spent trimming the hedge, a couple of bushes in front of the veranda and cutting the old rambling roses back. I used to grow roses, mostly antique roses. All that is left are those enormous red beauties. Thursday I enlisted Mark's help as I was sore from the day before. He is so much faster than I am. It is a very good feeling to have this done. I spent the late afternoon in happy soreness from a job well done. Now I start preparing for Thanksgiving. I haven't had company on a holiday since 2018. I'm out of practice.

That's a great colt! If Thanksgiving is three, it's pretty manageable. Remember that tv ad where everyone is around the table, covered in full dishes, and grandma instructs her son to "bring in the first turkey"?

Boud, he grew up to be a quite successful show horse and a very good, albeit, mischievous horse! I do remember the commercial!

e, I could not get her last evening, so she missed that dose. I was able to get her by the scruff this morning as she made a dash to get to the screened porch. She is having nothing to do with me. It's impossible to entice her. This is challenging.

Zinger got his name because his dam would run her teeth up and down the stall door bars. I called her my jailhouse mama. I t made a zinging sound, so when she died birthing him, he became Zing. He name wa LF Diamond Rose. His registered name is WF Last of Roses.

Love Zing's formal name. You sure have been doing a lot more lately! Glad you are feeling well enough to get stuff done.

I love the feeling I get when I accomplish something other than everyday tasks. Last time I had the feeling is when I cleaned some rain gutters this fall. I am glad you are feeling well.
A sweet looking little fellow Zing was and I am happy he is still here.
Good luck with your pill giving, I hope you are wearing gloves and long sleeves..
Take Care,
Kaye

Cats and pills! yikes!

Beautiful Zing. I have raised orphan puppies and nearly had a mare die after birth, but never raised an orphan horse. That takes hard work!

All that outdoor work is amazing, right? Good for you.
Did the fresh air feel good??? ;-)

Lori, I can do things in stages. Which is better than doing nothing at all!

Thatnk you, Far Side. I hope so.

Kaye, I'm impressed! Cleaning gutters is way out of my league. It did feel good. The next couple of days, not so much. :) Zing never grew up, he is an impish fellow.

Val, I have only raised an orphan horse and that is enough. It is very hard work, bottle feeding goat milk for 3 months round the clock. He only took the bottle from me or Mark. I was mom #1 and Mark was mom #2. He wouldn't "nurse" from anyone else. Losing that mare was beyond description.

Aw. Little horselet. So cute! It sounds like a crushing amount of work, though.

Speaking of crushing work, we're doing Thanksgiving here. It's actually more work keeping my husband from ranting at our extended family than it is to cook. He's grumpy these days.

Ami, it was an enormous amount of work.

I've been busy with Thanksgiving prep, cleaning up the joint. A grumpy man is not enjoyable. Good luck!
