No Snow. Lots of Cats

Good Saturday Morning.

December is certainly speeding along. I'm not able to keep up! The two barn cats, who used to be part-time house cats until Keetah came to live here, are now both coming inside. They tend to eat and run. The Hills Diet food seems to be gourmet. There are now times I have five cats in the house. I'd have never believed it. See, you can teach an old dog lady new tricks.

We are having an abnormal December, no snow and mild weather. Very strange. It isn't typical Christmas weather in this neck of the woods. We are either going to Matthew's or they are coming here on the 23rd. I hope they decide to host. I am not decorating....not very holiday-ish around here. Also, his wife is vegan. I can handle dinner with a tomato sauce and eggless pasta, but I haven't a clue about a dessert. I guess I can use margarine to make a galette crust. See, writing about it made me think. Some of those brain cells are still working.

I hope for your sake that your son hosts. It's tricky to cater vegan when you're not yourself.
I think the cats have decided everything!

It is cold and there was a big snow storm yesterday, I think it is coming your way. No, snow today and that makes me happy.
One day will you post photos of your cats?
Take Care,
Kaye

This is one of the many reasons that I love writing. It helps me think too!

There are vegan butters. Or even coconut oil. A pecan snowball cookie would be super duper easy to turn into dairy free.

We had one big snow storm the day after Halloween and a little more another time and that's about been all here too. And today, Saturday, it's warm (ish), outside.

Cheers, Ivy.

Why don't you try a plant based roast? They usually come with a bit of gravy. Bake a russet or sweet potato, salad and some fruit? One won't feed everyone but it would be nice for her. Better yet, ask what she serves and take your cue from that. Good luck.

It is difficult. I know nothing animal based but have not had to think about it.

Kaye, I think northwestern Minnesota has been hit with snow, we are having light flurries. I will post photos of those boys.

e, can I buy plant based meatballs? I know how to make them with eggplant but there are eggs involved. If I do it I plan to make sauce and pasta, with a salad. Easier than making two different meals. My son was a chef at a vegan cafe, which is how they became vegan. He lasted maybe 6 months but it stuck for her.

Far Side, it was windy here but just light flurries. I think I've got it covered if they come here. Pasta, tomato sauce and meatballs and meatless balls. On the side.

Thanks for the response and the link. I appreciate it.

Ivy, you were in spam. Are vegan butters different from margarine? Coconut oil wouldn't make a good crust, I think. Yes, after I started writing my brain kicked in!

This is very strange weather for December. I guess it's a bonus!

I made a vegetarian lasagna one time, but I guess the dairy might disqualify it?

My brain is on pause today....

Val, yes dairy is a no. I see they make shredded vegan cheese, so I think I've got it covered if it ends up being here. Vegetable lasagna is good.

I'm not sure how different a vegan butter is
from regular marg. I know there is one brand
of vegan butter though. Expensive and very, very
close. Very tasty. Too far out of my price-range
for a weekly purchase.

Coconut oil I used to bake with, with great success.
Both the organic virgin and the refined coconut oil.

Accommodating a Vegan is difficult, one of the fav Comedians I heard was a tiny South American Guy who had a whole slew of good Vegan Jokes about being a Vegan himself. One of my favorites were: You know what I miss most about being Vegan?... Friends. The other was he went to his Doctor and the Doctor told him he was grossly underweight. He said it was such a Sweet thing to compliment him on that he felt the need to do the same and say, "Naw, YOU are so Underweight...", and then he said, he really wasn't, he was a Normal Size Doctor, but, so long as they were exchanging Compliments... The Comedian was about the size of a 12 Year Old Boy, and I presume had been Vegan a long time, they're always so frail looking to me.
