Ups Downs and All Arounds

Bouncing into a new week.

Yesterday Neighbor Bill showed up. We haven't seen him at all this winter. I spent about an hour in conversation with him, ranging all sorts of topics, although he wants to spend more time on the state of our Union than I do these days. I think besides us, he is the only non-trumper in the area. He hasn't been feeling all that well lately. He did comment that it looks like I feel better. I told him in this case looks are not deceiving.

My grand plans for starting some organizing went by the wayside yesterday, for no reason other than I didn't do it. I know once I start it will be rewarding, it's the starting I am having trouble with. I think too much time where I couldn't do much, no matter if I wanted to or not, has normalized doing nothing. I'll see what today brings.

It's a lovely day. Sunshine and a high of 60 F/16 C. We are coming into a warming period. Mark is planning to spend the day lopping saplings. We live in a softwood woodland, which means the trees sprout up overnight. Half a lifetime is spent beating them back. Our changing climate does seem to have accelerated the sprouting.

That's all I got. One more cup of coffee and then a conversation with myself about moving myself into action. Ciao.

They say the hardest part of painting a house is getting the lid off the can. I think you can attest to that.

Boud, I like that saying! Yes, I can assuredly attest to that.

Today I had some of that to do and also didn't want to. Instead, I enjoyed a little nothing, nothing. It's very nice to do that. Sometimes. Other times I'm not as good at resting. I'll say this, I'm excited to get back to work tomorrow and work on some stuff. So that to me, makes a day of nothing, nothing, well worth it.

You sure sound a lot better these days! Pretty nice that your neighbor noticed. Are you able to get out and see your horses? Please send your heat this way....very cold today.

I love that saying from Boud. Haven't heard it before but it is so true! LOL!
You can count me in as a non-trumper...well, a never-trumper--lol! But the news is so distressing--everything--all over--that I can only take it in small bits. I would rather watch horses leaping across the grass. ;)

Sometimes you just ned a bit of time off to regroup!

Nice that you were able to spend time with your neighbor, Bill, although in truth I could not have the patience to listen to political rambles, but nice that you obliged a friend.

It must be nice to be a horse and not have to worry about mortgages, political infighting, climate change, drug addiction and all the other stuff we humans have to navigate.
I sincerely hope DT doesn't get a second term as president.

Ivy, your energy and enthusiasm leaps off the screen! You are a bright moment in my day.

Lori, poor Bill is really concerned about it all. Not that I'm not, but I keep telling him ruminating on it doesn't change anything. About all we can do is vote. Oh, and I am better and if the weather pattern flows like normal you should be getting some warmer weather.

Rita, I've never heard Boud's saying before, either. It is fantastic! You probably live in trumpland, too, in ND. MN isn't that but this area is. All the way. Watching horses leap is much better for the mental state.

Far Side, I told Mark it's a process. Most things are habit and I am in a habit I hadn't had before. I need to break it but it takes time to unlearn.

Dorothy, Bill needs to talk to someone and the choices for him are few. I listen and then try to convince him it isn't helpful to be so depressed about what is happening. It changes nothing, except yourself.

Sandra said...

Nick, it sure would. Eat all day, snooze in the sunshine, give another horse a nip or a kick. If DT gets in office again it is the end of the US and a big problem for the rest of the world.

I'm a huge fan of organziation and getting rid of stuff, sometimes even to my own detriment. The last few months have been about getting my retirement organzied. Yay!

Sandra said...

Organizing retirement is a good thing, Pixie! I'm working on getting back to my prior self. It's a bit of a struggle, but I'll get there.

It seems we are the next generation thinking of getting rid of things.
I did a lot of that sorting and junking things out when we remodeled. I need to do more of course.

I love the photo! I used to enjoy watching the mule foals bounce and play in the pasture.

I got a lot done today and now I am ready for a nice long nap.

When I can't start, I put on some music and roll around for a bit til I come up with a plan. Don't worry. start where you want and enjoy the day. Your bread looks lovely.

Sandra said...

Vai, we are. I can't quite wrap my head around that fact!

This guy is named Bounce! I hope you enjoyed your nap.

e, a plan. I need a plan of action. Yesterday was my laundry day. I do keep to that schedule. This loaf is a fast one to make. Great when you need bread right away.

While I understand conservatives (to some degree at least), I don't understand Trumpers.

Sandra said...

AC, there is nothing conservative about the Republican Party as it now stands. It's a party of anarchy. It's really scary to be living through this. Who would have thought?

Thank you for the lovely comment. Having two days off really helped me. And then last week at work I made mistakes at the newer job part and this week I went in guns a'blazin. Really was nice to have a fresh start.

Good for you, Ivy! Sometimes we need to shut down a nd reset.
