Oh What A Day

Hard work spotlights the character of people:  some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.  ~Sam Ewing

Really, I must be getting too old for this. Mark and I spent a twelve hour day laboring in the barn. The very wet weather has kept horses in the barn too much, leaving me with a lot of extra work. Mark is busy right now and really could not spare the time, but like the good man he is, he did anyway.

My muscles have been on vacation due to the various physical problems I've experienced so I am out of working condition. I have to admit to being sore and tired by the end of the day. Really sore and tired.

Which led me to do something I never do; I soaked in a hot tub for about forty minutes. Now I wonder why I never do that, since it was so pleasant and soothing. Even though I don't use the tub, I do have essential oils. Wow, what a difference it made. I may be getting too old to work like I did, but I'm not too old to learn something new. Like a soak in a hot bath laced with essential oils is a really good thing!

Oh soaking is one of my all time favorite things in the world to do! Which oils did you use? I heavenly, relaxing. A pine that is supposed to me good for sore muscles, but can't use it because I can't get over the feeling that I'm bathing in Pinesol cleaner. Hope your muscles are feeling better and your feeling energized again today. Blessings and prayers for sunshine your way!

oops, I erased part of my comment. I wanted to say that my favorite soak is by Knieps, it's a chamomile oil that is heavenly and relaxing.

My husband thinks a bath is the cure for everything and sometimes it is.

Love the illustration! We don't have a very user friendly tub right now and i MISS a good hot bath : )
Hot showers are sufficing. The violence in kids that you mentioned in a previous post is at least exacerbated by all the violence these kids see every day. I know it is cliche to say it , but I think that it is terribly desensitizing for these kids to watch brutal brutal stuff all day. I cannot even watch most movies these days due to the violence, it just makes me feel sick. Not trying to offer a solution as freedom of speech is a complicated issue but I do think kids are asked to process too much violence at too young an age.

Hope you get to feeling better!

No tubs here so a hot shower has to suffice but I know what you mean about the aches & pains. This growing older lark is no fun. I might invest in a rocking chair before I do me an injury...

Debra, I'm sure not energized! But I enjoyed the soak. I was given this foaming bath with rose oil, chamomile & valerian as a gift. I decided I should use it!

Judy, it would be great if a bath cured everything. My poor old muscles are sore. I don't recover as well as I used to.

Ashley, my bathrooms need to be redone. They are not lovely, but the tub is serviceable.

Our violent & crude society is influencing young & old. We have a problem. Children aren't allowed to see a naked breast, but someone's guts splattering all over the place is OK.

Ganeida, I spend time in a recliner. I NEVER thought that would happen. I want a tub with jets, but I traded the luxuries in life for a bunch of horses. It seemed a fair trade when I was younger, but not so much now!

You've reminded me I haven't taken a bath in ages.

They are so wonderful, essential oils too.

I use diluted jasmine and vanilla as perfume.

Lavender to help me sleep.

Nothing beats a nice hot bath to sooth aching bones. After hope straight into bed ... Ah pure heaven on the achy bones.

I'd like to make it a habit, but the getting in and out of the tub was a pathetic sight and bruised my ego worse than the work did my sore body!

Sounds good to me! We all need to learn to treat ourselves with kindness, and pamper ourselves when we need it!
