The diary of the life and times of a mad horsewoman. Talk of horses or life in general, diverging at times into the political and esoteric.
The Twixt and Twain of a Life.
If you are going to flaunt fashion, do so brazenly and with no reservations. It is better to be boldly and definitively wrong than to be timid and tentatively right.

About Me
Sandra
Watertown, MN, United States
I am a transplanted city-dweller, who gave up the pavement for pastures and coffee shops for feed stores. Along the way I became a breeder of many horses and the owner of some really talented and wonderful horses. And some not so talented, but still wonderful. You can't breed a champion every time, although you always aim for one. As well as having horses, I have a husband, an adult son and a couple of dogs. My interests are fairly simple: horses, politics, food and reading. And some gardening, as well. I rattle on about all of these interests with some regularity here.

DLKS Korithian, the infamous Shaka. The horse that grabbed my heart and still holds it firmly in his hoof. Talented, opinionated and HOT, he taught me respect and he taught me to really ride. He did not tolerate fools nor anyone flopping around on his back. In his opinion, we with the two legs are the lessor life-form and we need to understand our place. He sure taught me mine, as I was put on the ground more than once by him. He is the horse that made me understand horses; that they can't be forced to do anything they aren't actually willing to do, but when we with the supposedly larger brain, come to understand a partnership with them, oh my. Shaka is the personification of independence and loyalty. He is the one horse I own which is definitely my horse. He comes like a dog when I call him, he talks to me when he sees me. I wish I could ride him again, but his arthritis says I can't. He is getting old, but he is still the Prince, and nobody does it better.
A Lipizzan Moment
We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. In return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

I Am A Capricorn
Capricorns tend to be profound thinkers. To them life is a serious business, and the need to be in control of it is paramount.. They are seekers after knowledge and wisdom. Rational, logical and clearheaded, they have excellent concentration, and delight in all forms of debate. Their weakness is they can be dictatorial, inhibited, distrusting and fatalistic.
Everything sublime is as difficult as it is rare.

Beautiful Kristina
The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.
I need some of that happiness today! Glad to see you so radiant : )
By the way, about Alladin. The instructor has stopped using him during lessons and the other day I saw a vet giving him a huge shot. I guess my suspicions were correct that he was looking sickly but I am glad that they seem to be letting him rest and having a vet to care for him. The other horses are looking back to normal and I see that the old groomer is back. So maybe the momentary lapse in their condition is attributed to 'Ratinhos" (his nick name is 'little mouse') absence. He is the normal groomer and keeper of the barn. Just thought I would let you know since I asked you for so much advice on the matter. They still avoid any on my questions and obviously don't want to discuss Aladdin in detail so I am just laying off. He does look MUCH better though.
A politics that is not sensitive to the concerns and circumstances of people's lives, a politics that does not speak to and include people, is an intellectually arrogant politics that deserves to fail.
Paul Wellstone
Liberalism is trust of the people by prudence. Conservatism is distrust of the people tempered by fear.
