A Moment

Internet stock photo

In the early morning light I caught movement out of my left eye, the side toward the window. In the distance, a herd of white tail loping along the road. Large deer, their fluffy white tails standing at attention, were filling the road.

A moment that caught my breath before I could exhale. Beautiful, seen through the spruce against a backdrop of winter. They stopped for a moment, regrouping and planning the next move. Off they went into the field, heading for the woods.

One of those moments in time.

Bonnie, thank you. It's not my photo, only my thoughts!

Oh, you described it so perfectly. I can see them and I can see you in your wonder. On the journey we get these surprises that delight and refresh our spirit. I am so happy for you to have had this gift this morning.

I rarely see the deer that live in the woods surrounding me. What a wonderful surprise it was!

Nice photo, even if internet stock photo. Did you need to pay for copyright?

So many of them are copyright protected.

No, it was on a state site for education about white tails, not a stock photo site. So stock photo is probably incorrect. Just not my photo.

There was no photographer credit with this photo.

When I wish there were more moments like this I realize they wouldn't be special if there were.

Aren't they glorious creatures? I once caught a small herd in a harvested wheat field here, very early one morning as I headed off to work. I stopped the car and rolled down my window to hear their silent retreat... yes, I could actually hear the small rustling sounds they made as they ran, since the world around me is so quiet out here!
