Fleeting, Lovely

Water Iris

Beautiful delicate flower which has a life cycle that completes in one day. Bud to bloom to curl all in a day. This flower demands I take the time to look, for it will be gone in a blink of an eye. I think there is a metaphor in there somewhere.

  4. The only ones that survive the construction syndrome are about to bloom here. They have, to me, that glorious light of all ephemeral things.

Btw, there is a new recipe inside the
    "basket"

  5. They are the most beautiful flowers.

I grow gardenias & you pretty much only get one day to enjoy them too ~ at least in this climate. Pristine & glorious in the morning, brown & rancid by evening.

  8. Bonnie, it is very delicate. They are considered a weed when they get into waterways, but mine are well contained.

Deb, these aren't a true iris, but I love them all the same! I don't have any secrets. I think really awful soil must do the trick, as that is what we have and my iris take on a life of their own!

Judy, I try to learn from that lesson and enjoy the day. I hope you do as well.

Allegra, I enjoyed the 'basket' very much. So happy you have something blooming after losing the roses.

Ganeida, I have tried to grow gardenias as house plants and have always failed miserably. So beautiful.

gsc, I know you are anxious to go home for the summer, but your work with the dog is a wonderful thing. I'll supply you with the images of greenery while you continue to help the berner.

deb, they do seem to glow. The petals are so thin.

I really appreciate the concept and sentiment behind awards, but I cannot participate in them anymore. I have too may and I have not got the time to devote to participating properly. To all who have honored me, I am grateful but I don't have seven more things to tell anyone about myself! And I'm a terrible passer-oner.
