An Observation

It is five degrees F in the frozen bit of land I call home.

My home is heated by propane. Propane has become very expensive over the past few years, causing a rather large hole in the bank account. We live in a cold house because of this. But, and here is my observation, the large room is mostly glass and it is warm. When the sun is out, that very large space that I don't heat at all is warm and toasty due to the solar effect.

As stated, it is cold outside. My glass room is warm. Why isn't solar energy a priority? Why did President Obama make a large financial commitment to build two nuclear power plants in Georgia? This seems to be a backward step; dangerous and expensive. Actually I know the answer. There isn't any powerful lobbying money coming from alternative energy industries.

It really is a shame that the people and the planet are abused and used to further the goals of a powerful few. I don't think anyone who thought about it a little could truly come to the conclusion that alternative sources would not be realistic and viable if the proper resources were put into their development. Like the multi-billion going toward building those plants.

Instead we burn fossil fuel and create nuclear waste which we don't know what to do with. And I think we always will, at least during the rest of my time on this abused orb we call home.

there are so many things, these days, that are too difficult to even TRY to figure out....it's all truly mind boggling. I think that is part of THE PLAN. It's working... so many people feeling helpless and hopeless and the fat cats get fatter.

I'm looking ofr your dog hair poety :) I can't wait to find it!

I think it's titled 'Ode to Dog Hair'! I am going to start using the labels feature.

And you are right, IMO, about the plan.

I have always wondered the same thing. Why isn't solar power utilized more often. I will say that my old house in Brazil heated the water for showers in black pipes on the roof and it worked great in the summer. In winter you had to turn on a little attachable heater to the shower head to get the water warm enough. We also had some solar panels and most houses do have them. I don't know how effective they are but it is better than nothing!

Govt here encouraging solar use...well, they'd be dumber than dumb if they didn't in a state that normally sees little rain wouldn't they? Then, this is a recent phenomena.

He was very much in favor of solar and got nothing but grief during the election. Sad there are so many backward people with power and money. I totally agree with you. I love to stand in front of one of our large windows with the sun is out. Feels good on my neck and back...the arthritis always loves the heat.

About the only thing you can do to save money is put on sweaters.

Hang in there

I don't know what to think anymore. Sigh.

That's a lovely picture, though, that you posted. And I agree with everything that you said. That I know.

I'm with you on this subject... we have propane too, and it is ghastly how expensive it is. We keep our house on the cool side but I do notice when the sun is out, the house warms up quite nicely. Like today. We actually have sun, woo-hoo! It's so motivating. :)
