Blink

You cannot stare into the face of horror without blinking. To do so will surely drive you mad. So today I blinked. I looked at what is blooming and unfurling and felt glad. It won't make the horror disappear, but it may keep me from the brink. Sometimes it truly is the small things.

Pink Honeysuckle

White Honeysuckle

Old Fashion Lilac

Dianthus

Fiddle Head Fern

So I hunker down on my little piece of turf and put the things that make me want to drop to my knees, sobbing and cursing, away, into the little box inside my head that allows for the appearance of calm well-being. After you do what you can do, there is no alternative to going about the day-to-day as best as one can. Flowering bushes and lacy fern make it a little bit easier, at least for me. I hope it does for you as well.

Beautifully said Sandra. Mother Nature does hold and console us.

That is exactly what I am doing, spent the day yesterday swimming in a sea of despair, writing and calling and getting angry and then I decided that to plant was the answer for the indifference I sensed from many quarters. Today I am planting and hoping.

Your photos are glorious and they help to sooth the soul. I have to close my eyes as blinking is not doing it for me today. Lets see how many things I can manage to plant upside down...

God's world is beautiful; so often it is man that is not. I choose to live where I do with all the inconvienience because I can wake up each morning, look out my window & be surrounded by incomparable beauty. It is important to me. It restores my soul, gives me courage for the journey. Indeed it is the little things that make it all worthwhile. ☺ & some of this too ♥♥♥

Just seeing your beautiful fauna helps to restore me to face the lunacy again.

Flowers were given to us for a reason. Lilacs can cure lots of things, they are my favorite flower, their fragrance brings me back to my childhood.

Flowers and ferns and blossoms on trees make the troubles of the world fade into the distance for me. We have had a glorious spring so far, just perfect for working in the yard and the woods. I am transplanting and rearranging and nurturing with abandon, and trying not to watch the news. Thanks for such a great post.

Bonnie, you are right, going outside, breathing in the scented air and being dazzled by the lilac does hold and console.

I'm glad you spent the day with your garden. I'm so jealous over those Meyer lemons. They weren't planted upside down. If you know roses which can grow on the steppes, I love to know what they are.

Ganeida, I've seen photos outside your door and I can't imagine living in such beauty year round.

gsc, glad I helped!

Judy, lilacs bring memories of childhood to me as well. I guess that is why I am attached to the plain (if you can call them plain) purple bushes. I'm so glad you and your family are not flooded.

Mel, thanks for visiting. I have been doing the same. Working like a maniac to get as much done as I can during this early, lovely spring. We are having a chilly week, but I will be forgiving. : )
