Opportunity

I have it today. Mark is gone for the day, the wind is howling and the horses will stay in for the day. So, other then feeding and watering them, I have the day to try to reestablish some order and peace into my life. When things seem to spiral out of my control it is always helpful to me to establish order in my day-to-day living. I was busy over the past few months and then I got knocked off my feet from appendicitis and now I feel sad over the loss of my shadow, Bill. So as a result I have a lot to do. I'll feel better if I get busy with the things I really don't care to do, but are necessary in life. I am definitely not a domestic goddess! A usual motivator for me when I let things slip is to think, "How would I like it if something happened to me and people had to go through my house?"! I then hear in my head 'People ACTUALLY live this way." As little as I care about housework I, like everyone else, really do appreciate how it feels to have everything clean and in place. I have to spend the day reminding myself of this as I struggle on.
If I actually manage to keep on track, a big IF since I easily distract (bad computer!) maybe I'll put out some holiday decorations.
I do decorate for Christmas, even though I am not Christian. Christmas is a cultural event, as well as a religious holiday. I think the cultural aspect is greater in our society than the religious element. Anyway, it is a driving force in America, the 'aura' of Christmas. I never use any religious symbols because I think it is disrespectful to those who view it as a religious event, but Santa and reindeer are harmless. I also have a good collection of nutcrackers. I love a beautifully decorated tree, or as it is called in some circles, a Hanukkah Bush! The tree is a pagan symbol anyway. And Bing Crosby singing Christmas carols is a holiday must.
See, I do distract easily! I had better get moving, as the day will slip away before I know it and all I will have accomplished is some rambling typing.

Happy cleaning/decorating! I just caught up on your last few posts. Sorry to hear you have been rather blue lately, don't worry I think we all have peaks and valleys! I would love to see your tree and I am especially fond of nutcrackers as well : )! I am in a bit of a fret myself but am working on my 'motto' with a renewed sense of determination! : )

Have a great day.

I hate house work, I really do! My Christmas tree is much different now that Howard, the Basset, lives here. Howard is a little monster, so I can't have a tree he can get to. I used to do a really big tree and starting last year I needed a table top tree. I think this will be the case for a few years because naughty Howard can't be trusted!

You have a right to be in a fret. Finding you are moving in the span of a week is enough to put anyone in a tail-spin. YIKES!
