Thursday's Thinks

We must reject the idea..well-intentioned, but dead wrong.. that the primary path to greatness in social sectors is to become "more like a business." Most businesses..like most of anything else in life..fall somewhere between mediocre and good. ~ Jim Collins

I have many things on my mind, much of it to do with the state of the State. I will keep it brief. I am hopeful that we will come out of the mess we are in. When that happens, we need to deal with what got us here in the first place. I'll leave it at that.

I need to remind myself that things can always be worse, but I CANNOT stand much more of this awful winter. My poor horses are suffering.

I think Wall Street is a criminal syndicate. I am tired of hearing about Wall Street and how it reacts. Wall Street and how it has reacted has a great deal to do with why we are where we are at this time.

Gracie is feeling better, but she has lost a little over a pound since her last clinic visit. Other than the weight issue, she seems well. Babe has been well since her near-death experience, so I'll add a little thankfulness into this.

My son is entering home ownership. I think this is a good thing for him.

I think I like my hair gray better than this lighter brown. I think I'm glad it isn't permanent. I do like the haircut. I'm actually thinking about buying some new barn clothes, but then I think maybe I should take off some weight first. Sounds so simple when I write it, but it is much more difficult in reality. I think I'm dreaming.

My brain is sluggish and I think it is anxiously waiting for spring. I have some horses anxiously waiting for me to feed them, so I think I ought to stop typing and go to work.

Oh, I'm so pleased Gracie is doing better! Lots of rain is a nuisance. We got 10" in 2 days & it's still raining. Luckily we aren't flood prone. The cat's got cabin fever. I can't even begin to imagine horses in a similar mind frame!

10" of rain is a lot. You must be absolutely soggy. Horses with cabin fever are not a pretty sight. Me with cabin fever also is not a pretty sight. : )

Gray hair! I love ladies in gray <3 There are so many different shades each lovelier than the next. I'm told going gray gracefully is not easy, but I hope when the time comes I will. Embrace the gray! or ignore this naive 27 year old naive know-nothing ;-)

I thought I was done with coloring, but I think I was susceptible to the suggestion because of the winter doldrums. Kristina wants me to try a darker color, as the light brown isn't a good choice for me. I think Kristina believes I am too frumpy and I should be, in her terms, a little more girly! Ha!!

Cassidy and Brooke are reduced to indoor turnout here as we have so much ice in the paddocks and stable road. Cassidy really ripped around inside this morning so he is feeling great. I am getting over a 6-week cold (otherwise known as the kindergarten cold as school is sick bay for most parents). I shudder at the thought of January and the first half of Feb. I didn't miss work as a different child would sneeze in my face every day. I, too, long for spring! Ah well, the kids still make me laugh. One little tyke wanted to earn her certificate for counting to 100 and counted all the way to 99 and drew a blank! Sigh!
Good news about the dogs.

It's amazing how a life can be turned upside down by melting and freezing! It' a good thing you have someplace for them to move around.

A job with children or with people who have children is a sure way to get sick. Perpetually.
