It's quiet here. Quite quiet. Keetah barked a lot and moved around the house, laid in doorways, generally took up a lot of space, both in the house and in our heads. We worried about her. I've always had cats, but my dogs were where my attention went. Having cats without dogs, starting in 2018, allowed me to know them in a way I'd never before taken the time to. Gatto misses Keetah. He is now mirroring her behavior with Mark. When Keetah heard the screen door open she would run to greet Mark. Now, Gatto is doing the same. He's off like a rocket, meowing as he goes. They are all clingy. Mark has a new dog in cat form.
It's been awhile since I graced this page with a food photo, so I think it's fitting that this is one of soup. Considering how hot it has been soup has not been on the menu. It's still hot, but just mid-80s hot. We both enjoyed it. I won't be making my Aldi trip this week. Mark has to get his CPE (continuing professional education) done by the 30th, so the BIG trip is postponed till next week. Alas, my debut must wait.
He may miss his girl, but Gatto is finding time for those much needed catnaps. Since I put the slipcovers on, to protect from kitty claws, he has loved sleeping there. The covers are soft. Like the landing he got when I let him in. He's been a real handful. He is starting to calm down, maybe in ten years he may act like an adult. My son told me I need to outlive Frieda and Gatto, he doesn't want their kind of trouble. I think he was only half joking.

Cats really notice what is different in their household. So now you have a watch cat:) Keetah trained him well.
I was opposed to getting Eli the Cat due to fear of the Animal outliving us... even tho' he belongs to Princess T, you know how Kids are, when she's finally grown and gets her first place, they may not allow Pets and then guess who will inherit ole Eli? I'll wait... *winks* So funny that Gatto is now mirroring his Girl's behaviors, mebbe he's sleeping a lot coz he's depressed? *LOL* Your Soup looks good... I enjoy good Food Porn...
80s isn't too hot for soup, to this soup lover. My cats have always done Velcro imitations. I don't know whoever thought they were standoffish.
You are such a good communicator. A good writer. I think you could write a very interesting column about life for a newspaper. Actually you already do, that is what your blog is about life. You make me feel things it helps you are witty and smart. You are a good story teller.
Taker Care,
Kaye
We used to have soup in the summer for supper a lot. Grandpa said it made you sweat so it was good to eat. We of course, believed him. Fish soup and veggies.
There will be an ongoing adjustment while all the critters and humans figure out their new roles.
It's really sweet that your cat guy is trying to be a dog girl. :)
My hubby made some beef/potato/mushroom soup on Sunday afternoon. It was really, really good.
He doesn't always have time to cook, but when he does, he's pretty good at it.
If I thought Pixel would tolerate another cat in my house, I might consider getting one of my own. She's grown on me, I'm afraid.
I do have a watch cat, Far Side. It's such a strange thing to see him do!
Dawn, you likely willl inherit a cat. I know you like food porn!
Boud, I never spent much time thinking about the cats, so they didn't spend much time thinking about me. Frieda changed that. I'm greatly attached to my little monster.
Kaye, you are kind to me! Yes, a blog is just a story of particular moments in our lives. It's been good for me to start again. It is pleasing to me you enjoy my ramblings.
Maybe I should turn my chicken broth into soup today! We are in the 60s with very poor air quality blowing in from Canada. I often wonder how my animals feel one one of them passes...we have lost o many over the past 50 years. Sorry you are not making it to Aldis and I hope you get there next week.
Ami, he is trying! Doing well at it, too. I love soup. You are lucky in having someone else who can cook. My cats are accepting of others but a lot of cats aren't. I've found cats can be very comforting little beasts.
Val, maybe your grandpa was right! You're right about the adjustment.
Lori, perfect soup weather. It's been so hot here, it's really miserable. We aren't getting a break anytime soon.
When Keetah's pal, Emma, died we let Keetah spend all the time she wanted sniffing her body. It seemed to help.
