For several years now the turkeys have been raising their turklets on the property. Sometimes there is an entire village of them. I got this photo from a distance so not the best quality. They move calmly, mama looking around while babies check things out.
I've been busy playing catch-up outside. There is so much to do and I know it won't all get done, but I'm making a dent.

Wild turkeys are so rare here. The last troop I saw was crossing a local road. A passing police cruiser noticed them, stopped and the officer made traffic stop in both directions until they'd all got safely across into the trees.
Turkey dinner in your yard!
Before Dagan and Leah bought their house they lived in a condo with a small river in the back where turkeys were seen regularly. They may not be the prettiest birds, but babies are always cute--lol! I still have a couple big turkey feathers Dagan found in their yard and brought me. I always thought I might try to make quills from them...but I never have. I wouldn't want to ruin them.
I had the same thought as did Far Side of Fifty, LOL.
