About Me

Sandra: Minnesota, United States; I moved to the western edge of Minneapolis from Saint Paul January 1994, three horses in tow, not having the slightest clue where this would lead. It led to breeding and showing many fine horses over about twenty years. Those days are in the past, but I still have 11 horses hanging out, aging along with me. I started this blog in 2008 and like so many others I abandoned it about four years later. After a couple of years of Covid isolation I decided to revisit my relic of a blog. It felt strange and empty at first but now it's as if I never left. If someone stumbles upon it, finds something amusing, interesting or, as is often the case, mundane in a not unpleasant way, I will be pleased.

My Personal Hero

A politics that is not sensitive to the concerns and circumstances of people's lives, a politics that does not speak to and include people, is an intellectually arrogant politics that deserves to fail.

Paul Wellstone

Liberalism is trust of the people by prudence. Conservatism is distrust of the people tempered by fear.

William Gladstone, 1866

Properly trained, a man can be dogs' best friend.

Corey Ford

If you are going to flaunt fashion, do so brazenly and with no reservations. It is better to be boldly and definitively wrong than to be timid and tentatively right.

The Prince Of Horses

DLKS Korithian, the infamous Shaka. The horse that grabbed my heart and still holds it firmly in his hoof. Talented, opinionated and HOT, he taught me respect and he taught me to really ride. He did not tolerate fools nor anyone flopping around on his back. In his opinion, we with the two legs are the lessor life-form and we need to understand our place. He sure taught me mine, as I was put on the ground more than once by him. He is the horse that made me understand horses; that they can't be forced to do anything they aren't actually willing to do, but when we with the supposedly larger brain, come to understand a partnership with them, oh my. Shaka is the personification of independence and loyalty. He is the one horse I own which is definitely my horse. He comes like a dog when I call him, he talks to me when he sees me. I wish I could ride him again, but his arthritis says I can't. He is getting old, but he is still the Prince, and nobody does it better.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. In return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

From my friend Jean L.
