Tip-Toeing Toward Independence

I walked into the kitchen yesterday afternoon and saw the elusive  November sun casting a glow across the living room. The sun is so rarely seen during November it felt worthy of a photo. It was much more vibrant in person, but it does bring a little light to a day.

Another news flash; I drove into Waconia by myself. Again! This makes three, count them, three trips in the car by myself. I feel like a newly driving teenager. Well, more like an old lady trying to regain some independence, which may be close to the same thing. It was a grocery pick-up, so driving was the extent of the adventure. As an aside, my olive oil has gone up in price by $4 since a year ago. I have order records so I know this is not my imagining.

I have everything but the turkey for Thanksgiving. Mark will pick that up from the meat locker on Wednesday. There is a farm in southeastern Minnesota that raises free-range turkeys we have been buying for years. Now I need to muster my ambition. I don't know if Matthew will be here. With his new career he will very likely be working. He was able to find a job relatively quickly at a major hospital in Minneapolis. He is happy so far, which is wonderful. To switch careers at fifty-one is a courageous move

Now, a second to honor all cats on this Caturday.

Happy day to one and all.

I'm glad Matthew found a job so quickly. And good for you on venturing out! We used to have a turkey farm nearby and always ordered from them. Sadly they closed about 15 years ago and we are stuck with the grocery store.
Most of my memories of the turkey farm are of lining the floor of my car with newspapers and the seats of my car with old sheet for the nursery school field trip to the farm. Turkeys are not potty trained and we tromped through the poo to see them and, of course, at least one child would trip in the field.

Great job on the driving and I see the sameness you mentioned with a teenager driving. That's fun though. Go you! Also, I love in the inside of your living space. That fireplace, is that what that is? Soooo pretty.

The medical field is short staffed, Miss Merry. He likes the job so far. We don't get a live turkey, but it sounds like you did! That had to be interesting.

It is a fireplace, Ivy. I think it's more like the bat cave, that's what I call it anyway. The prior owner put on the addition. He had spent a lot of time in the Cascades and wanted to have that mountain home feel. So, there's a bat cave.

That last photo reminds me so much of our tuxedo cat, Rocky. He was my fav cat, I guess.

Hurray for the driving! I only drive the few blocks to the grocery store, but I would miss not being able to do that.
