Hello, my pals. I hope you all had a pleasant day whether you celebrate Christmas or simply celebrated life. Our day was peaceful. I spent most of my time in the kitchen, which, when I think of it, is where I spend my time most days. It is my domain.
We had a mist all day and then some rain overnight. This is not wanted, but the weather ignores me when I complain. Still complain. I didn't get to light a fire in the bat cave, which some would call a large fireplace, because the wood is outside (Mark didn't do his job) and got wet. Tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow......Matthew and his wife are coming for lunch. I have food prep work to do today so I don't have to think about it tomorrow. The trials. The tribulations.
So now I will fill the screen with our Christmas dinner starting with a flourless cake.
The order is reversed as the osso buco was dinner, not the cake. I didn't have parsley so I made the gremolata with celery leaves and basil. I liked it better than the traditional. A simple pilaf and broccoli and we had dinner. I do love braised food.
To break up the monotony of food, a photo of the boys. With food.
I plan to check in with you all later today. I'm off to make focaccia.

The Cake, looks delicious. !!!
Hi You! I will never have to worry about you not having many good things to fill your table.
The cake looks AMAZING. Have a great time with lunch and here's to a kickbutt 2026. Kitchen, mine as well. New legs coming to raise the work bench. Excited!
Care to share the recipe for the cake? It looks awesome! Merry Christmas!
I love it. Food on the table, Mark tucking in, cut to outdoors, horses tucking in! It's a theme.
That's too bad about the wood, but it sounds like a peaceful day. I love the picture of the horses. ❤️
Sounds like a good day and that cake looks very yummy 😋
Sounds like a day of successful cooking!
You are a master. Period! Sounds like it's been pretty relaxing out your way. We got slammed with a blizzard for much of the afternoon. Had grass yesterday! Enjoy your visit tomorrow and be sure and make us drool over your next fabulous meal!
Your pictures of dinner make me feel warm and wonderful!
That's a massive slab of food for the boys! Looks like they're tucking in eagerly. Your own cake looks delicious.
That cake looks delicious. I’ve always had a soft spot for cake.
It was, Tommy.
It's Mark's mantra, AC!
It's simply delicious treat, Ivy. We do own our domain, don't we!
I will send it to you, Far Side.
Around here it is certainly a theme, Boud!
He did finally get wood into the house, Cheerful. The boys had just had a new bale put out for them.
It is yummy!
I love braised food, Sue.
You are kind, Lori! We are in for a snow storm today. We have had rain, crazy.
Comfort food, Dreaming.
It takes a month to consume, nick. Then another goes out.
Me, too, Jane. Me, too.
So guess what???? I've been having a blast making noodles and raviolis again. Trying to locate the crank on my grandmas noodle maker too. SO FUN.
Wishing you a fun baking cooking and eating of 2026! I really enjoy your postings!
We are thinking alike, Ivy. I'm going to make a bunch of pappardelle and ravioli to freeze. I really enjoy you bright light!
Excellent. I looked again for the crank and just cannot locate it. Might be one of those things I find whilst doing something else. I wanna use what I have before buying a Kitchenaid attachment. I LOVE my stand mixer but I still wanna see what I have here first. However the angel hair pasta attachment has my attention as well as the sheeter.
Of course, we all knew,Sandra, that the kitchen is your domain and hope Mark gets out of the doghouse for not getting the bat cave wood.
Now, how did you know that, Dorothy!!
Everything about your meal looks incredible! Sounds like you had a splendid day. I love the photo of the boys also.
