How I spent Saturday afternoon.
It's been a few years since I've made a bread that required more than mixing the dough, letting it rise and bake. I enjoyed the process. I've become used to making anything simple, meaning taking little time or thought. Not to say this is all that difficult, but it does take time. Waiting time. And braiding four strips of dough together.
I may make another bread, another one I need to knead. My nerves are raw from worry over the future of us all, including the rest of the world. It is not hyperbole to say this election is a worldwide threat. Pushing dough around, punching and massaging it into smoothness is one way to release tension. For awhile.

I love to make plaited bread. It is so fun. Three plaits, four, eight, it's all insanely fun. Yours looks wonderful. Happy, Happy Baking.
I made challah once, really enjoyed braiding and and all that. It was eaten in about an hour, and I decided it would be a rare treat instead of the bread for a few days I'd planned.
I have never made bread but my son in-law makes it most weeks, freshly baked bread is so nice
I used to make bread and have made a braided Challah. Since becoming gluten-free, I no longer bother. Your loaves look beautiful.
Your bread looks so delicious.
MY ex-DIL is Jewish, so you have caused me to think of her. I am glad you appreciate how much the world is on edge. I don’t think some Americans get that.
Your bread looks spectacular! One of my favorites. As for our future and the rest of the world....you are not alone. I will probably be put in jail for being critical of T. There is something so wrong about how this man is even being allowed to run for President. Why is a convicted felon who can't work at most jobs or be in the military....be allowed to run for this office? I just don't get it!
Ah God is in charge....I refuse to worry about the things I can do nothing about....especially the election.
It looks great, and that's a wonderful way to escape a bit from stress.
I unplugged the land line so the political calls won't keep happening every 5 minutes. I've decided to not watch the news until Tuesday night. Enough is enough. My vote will be counted.
Making bread is an excellent way to relieve tension. The bread is beautiful and I'm sure it's delicious too.
I've never done more than four, Ivy. Eight would be interesting!
It does go fast, Boud! I think I'll keep it in the rotation.
It is, Jo-Anne. I've been a bread baker for a long time.
I was gluten free for 2 years before I found it wasn't gluten causing the problem. I used spelt, buckwheat and einkorn to bake. Thanks for commenting.
Thank you, Miss Merry.
I hope it's good thoughts, AC. We are a potential danger to the whole world if that maniac sits in that office again. He's been handed the gold key of immunity from the supposed Supreme Court. I'm on edge.
Also, in many states he wouldn't be allowed to vote. We are seeing in full display how flawed the system is. We will vote tomorrow. It's all we can do.
All we can do is vote. I do worry, Far Side.
It is, Cheerful. For a brief time I'm concentrating on getting that dough to behave!
I don't know what I will do about the news tomorrow, Val. In 2016 I woke up to the the news 45 won via electoral college. That was a gut punch.
It is just a smidge over baked, Pixie, but still good.
Gorgeous! Been many years since I made bread and kneaded dough. I do remember it is quite therapeutic. Just telling myself not to worry doesn't work for me. I try to stay busy with other things...but I know I will be watching intently tomorrow night. Not that we will know right away. We should have a better idea, though. :)
I'm on tenterhooks waiting for the election result. If Trump wins, I shudder to think what he'll unleash on the USA.
I try to stay away from as much of it I can, but the overwhelming feeling of potential doom is always there, Rita.
The problem is, nick, what he does here will affect countries other than the US. People who have nothing to do with any of this mess will be harmed. He is a mad man.
I will not comment on political issues because everyone has her/his opinion, as it should be, all should be respected, instead, I will say that bread looks wonderful, Sandra!
