It's been sometime, I think, since I've graced this page with bread. Today I rectify that. Semolina/white whole wheat. If you are unfamiliar with semolina, it is a coarsely ground durum wheat. Its texture and color is similar to cornmeal. Most dry pasta is made from semolina. There is a slightly nutty flavor to it. It is high in gluten, but also high in protein. Not for the gluten intolerant. Like einkorn, it has been grown in Italy for many centuries. Unlike semolina, einkorn is tolerated well by the gluten intolerant, but not Celiac. It snowed all day yesterday but most melted as it hit the ground. Today we are supposed to have rain. In other words, it will be a mess. If I can get my ice cream churner to work I think I'll make chocolate pistachio gelato today. Doesn't a cold, rainy day just call out for a frozen dessert? I do have soup, so that balances things.
Crabby Tabby spent a lot of time standing at the door to go outside, but when the door was opened he kept changing his mind. Smart kitty.
Today is National Sales Tax Day. For those who don't know, that is what a tariff is. Good luck to us all. I have a full freezer but I didn't do as well with pantry goods. I shudder to think what will happen with horse feed. It's already very expensive. Nothing tanks an economy faster than massive unemployment and inflated pricing.

I love the looks of that bread! About inflation -- one line that resonated with me, "Recession hurts governments, inflation kills them." It looks as if we might have both. Hopefully there will be some positive consequences.

We are definitely getting some snow up here. But it started out rain, ice, snow, rain, ice, snow...so this old lady wouldn't trust to walk around out there. ;) Looks like really heavy wet snow from in here. Soup weather for sure. :)
That bread looks lovely. Crabby girl slept all afternoon and is presently on the look out for lizards and squirrels in the front room. It is 88 degrees here. Did you make gelato?
You were very ambitious, making that beautiful bread and gelato! I can't even think about what grain is going to cost. Right now, I feed Safe Choice/Special Care and it's over $26 per bag. Fortunately I only need two bags a month. Can't imagine what your grain bill is like. I also buy 8 bags of shavings per month....not so bad with just two horses. I watched a little of the National Sales Tax speech. More BS. He thinks it's all going to be better for all of us pretty soon. Who is going to want to buy a car, travel, or sell their house. Building one is going to be off the charts. Ahhhhhh. America.

I didn't make gelato, Rita. I forgot the freezing tub was not frozen. I don't have enough eggs for gelato so I'll make a recipe for ice cream that doesn't need a custard. We do have snow on the ground.

Massive unemployment and inflated prices. That is the recipe for making a depression, Lori. Not my opinion, an economic surety. We are harming the world with this mania we have substituting for governing.
