I was searching through older photos looking for something in particular. Not this photo, but it struck me when I saw it how long I have been grey. This was 2010. I went completely grey in 2005. It's been 20 years. Now I'm actually white haired, what's left of it.
Photos do tell a story.
Time passes and it's interesting to see the changes in the photos we have.

I came across an old snapshot of me, reading in bed about 30+ years ago. Who is this cute lady with masses of curly black hair and where did she go??
I totally get it, Boud! If I catch a glimpse at myself without being prepared I always give a little start.
I started going gray in my 30's with a little bit over my ears. I have raised 5 kids, weathered lots of storms and still only have that little tinge at almost 70. What I was HOPING for was the cotton candy white hair my gramma had in her thirties and beyond.
Genetics are weird. While I am bald, I am not yet totally great at 78, not even my beard. On a bright sunny day, however, the greay does stand out. 😊
Genetics. I am still waiting to turn gray at 74. Should be sometime before I'm 80 judging by my folks and grandparents. I live in a senior building and sometimes new people think I work here. My DIL is totally salt and pepper and has been turning gray since she was in her 30s. You never know. It's a roll of the dice. But I personally think gray hair looks very nice. :)
Love this photo! I have about 10 grey hairs and would love to have it all turn. So many friends have this beautiful white hair.
I am grey and have been a long time. You probably don't have those glasses or earrings anymore either!
I love that picture! I'm 85 and my hair falls out instead of turning gray. I just wear a hat when I go out. :D
I think grey hair is very distinguished. I don't know why people don't like it. Personally I'm a complete oddity. At 78 I still haven't gone grey.
I have a cool streak in my 'bangs' and the rest of my hair has bits and pieces of grey. Every once in a while I add some temporary green, purple, or blue into the streaks. Why not?
I'm an ol' lady rebel.
I got out photo albums from 30 yrs ago to share with my grand daughter this weekend. It is fun to go back and see how we change.
Miss Merry, you have resilience! I was late 50s in this photo. I got there by degrees.
Yes, I've noticed you are not grey, AC. Genetics are weird.
I actually don't mind being white haired, Rita. Although if I had kept my very dark hair I sure wouldn't have complained!
It seems so many blonds don't go grey. Lori. Now I want to know why.
Actually, Far Side, I do have the glasses. There are in my desk drawer as an emergency pair! I also have one of the earrings, the other disappeared long ago. Don't ask why I keep on earring. 😉
I have lost about half of my hair. It's a good thing it started out thick, Cheerful!
I think it's mostly women who don't like it, nick. Societal bias against older women.
Of course you clog your grey streak with neon colors, Val! Would I expect anything less? 😀
You wear the white hair well, Sandra.
Gorgeous. I'm VVhite headed and startle looking in the mirror.
I started to turn grey prematurely in my 30s and decided I did not like the look, which is why I started making regular salon appointments. In recent years as prices have gone up considerably, my colorist is my husband. He's very good and a whole lot less costly.
I tried having my hair colored , Dorothy, but the only color that I could wear was my natural dark and I would end up with a skunk strip in a couple of weeks. So I let it go. Sounds like you found the perfect colorist!
