In a prior post Boud had asked if the cats also got on the kitchen table. It's rare, but the Jiglet decided she wanted to be featured and found the kitchen table to be a perfect staging spot.
Lest the two primas feel left out, some table lounging photos from yesterday. It was very hot and humid so I turned the ac on, meaning the cats weren't spending their day lounging on the screened porch. The dining room table is a satisfactory substitute. Until these two cats snuck into my life I'd never had a cat that got on tables and counters. At least not in front of me. My reward for getting them out of the cold.
I decided I was going to drive yesterday. For those who don't know, I started having debilitating pain in my back in 2021. It was bad enough that I was barely able to walk, so Mark had to drive me to the only place I was going to. A medical clinic. I drove once in 2023 to bring Mark home from a medical procedure and that has been it. I believe I need to regain my independence, so I decided to go to Aldi and drive myself. Mark felt the need to come with me. Oh, dear. As an aside, when I was driving before this happened to me, I refused to drive if he was in the car. He is completely unable to stop telling me how to drive. This time was even worse and I don't take that well. Anyway. Another thing I don't do anymore is grocery shop, I order online for pick-up. The mother hen hovered over me the whole time, leading me to a bit of frustration, which means I forgot a few things. When I go back to buy what I forgot, he will stay home!
On the weather front, yesterday and today temperatures in the 90s, dew point was 75 yesterday and the same today. Minnesota is not the tropics. Or, at least it wasn't. My air conditioner is a 1984 model! Until the last few years I rarely needed to use it, the only reason I can think of that it is still operating.
Just because. Last evenings pasta and bean salad dinner.

Congrats on getting back out driving! Now that you've been a solo trip does sound needed. ;)
I never had cats on tables or countertops until Allie. Well, she can't jump way on the countertop--too chunky. But it seemed pointless to argue with her when she'd obviously been used to it before she came to live with me and when I move--McFamily's cat, Blink, has free reign. Unless I have a solid chair pulled out Allie can use for a step...she can't jump that high...and she is too scared of rollie chairs--lol! So she's not up on the table often.
I'm better off driving alone. I won't have to control my peevishness, Rita! Gatto and Frieda are the most troublesome cats I've had. I guess it was thought I needed this in my golden years. Nothing scares Gatto. He would not have lived long if he'd remained a stray. Frieda is suspicious of everything. She won't even let me pick her up because I clip her claws. She doesn't seem to realize Mark is part of the action, as he holds her.
I never drove with my hubby in the car at all either. He was constantly telling me how to drive. But he eventually came around after his stroke.
Funny true story. My ex was on crutches and I had to drive him somewhere. He kept on nagging me ALL caps nagging and criticizing my driving.
I pulled over to the side of the road and got out. I threw the keys in the ditch and started walking home. It was only 5 miles away.
Uh oh. Suddenly the crippled critic couldn't go anywhere. It was a stick shift too.
The silence was golden from that day forward until our divorce. :) Evil Grin.
Glad you are out and doing your own thing again.
