Another Past Blast

February, 2015.

Murphy had been with us for one month. Murphy is the energetic little guy, adopted after my last Greyhound, Grace, died. Murphy was a bit of a genetic mess-up, but a perfect match for Howard. He was eleven when he came to live with us, his owner had died. He lived three more years, dying a year after Howard. Howie had glaucoma, common in Bassets, and congestive heart failure. His death, at Ten, was extremely hard for me. He was a big, fussy bundle of drool and I loved him.

This is just to show you we do have meals that are not all pasta and leftover protein, although there is leftover pork.....

Looks like they really got comfortable with each other. Love the snoozing butt to butt shots--lol! The talking video surprised me--ROFL! You are much more talented with technology than I am. Happy Saturday! :)

The basset retirement community! People who love bassets reeeeeeally love bassets.

Murphy is a very lucky boy to have found such a loving home. Adorable photos of these lovelies. A friend of my sons had a Basset, and they used to visit all the time. I was very sad when they moved away. The photos of your doggies are adorable, the video too. Your meals are giving me great ideas. I have porch chops and corn. Yours looks delicious!

I think 'porch' chops wouldn't taste so good, maybe PORK chops would, lol!

That third pic shows hat a good boy he was. Captured his heart in a photo. The lady we bought our house from had a basset named Clancy. He was a good boy too, but he didn't like strangers in his house and howled at us.

Looks like a happy well loved dog and that is what is important!

Murphy idolized Howard, which suited Howard just fine, Rita! Murphy was a sweetheart.

Sandra said...

You got that right, Boud. If I'd been told I could only have one kind of dog, it would be basset hands down.

Howard had his idolizer which made him happy and Murphy had Howard to idolize, which made him happy, nick!

I agree, porch chops may be just a bit too exotic for me, Denise! Those boys got on very well.

Oh, they do love to sing the song of their people, Ami! Howard was quite an individual. Mark said I spoiled him. I did, but that isn't where he got his entitled nature from. He came a a puppy with that firmly intact.

Yes, it is Far Side. I've had a lot of dogs living together and it's sort of amazing how well they all got along.

Nice that you were able to take on that dog. I'm sure they both loved having company. Yum to grilled corn on the cob! Still waiting for rain.

Your corn looks SO delicious!

It is always joyful to see friends enjoying each other. These two looked like they liked each other very much. Not all dogs who live together, as you know, become great friends just friends.
Take Care,
Kaye

Awwww, such sweet pictures - it's peaceful to see them snoozing.

You have good memories of the good boys.
We’ve had a few cobs of corn lately.

Of all the dogs I've had...or should I say, the dogs that had me...
We seriously considered a Bassett hound just for their personalities and their expressive faces.

I loved all the photos and the singing. Such wonderful memories.
We had little steaks and corn on the cob last night too!

Murphy was a really good boy. We had three happy years with him, Lori. I have 3 more cobs of corn, so more will be on the grill!

You are welcome, Cheerful!

Thank's Linda. I miss having dogs, but I have made up for it in cats!

Sandra said...

Thanks, Miss Merry. It was good.

Howard adored being adored, Kaye! Murphy thought Howard hung the moon.

Sandra said...

They did a lot of snoozing, Dreaming. Hounds!

Fresh corn on the cob is so good, AC.

Sandra said...

Great minds, Val! They are living, breathing cartoons! I've had 3, Harvey, Howard, Murphy.

So much it sucks when they go. Bug died not long ago and Wiggy a year before that. But when they are here, they are the best.

They sure are, Ivy. Yesterday when I was weeding Mark walked by and said I should have a dog next to me, I always have had. This old grey mare just doesn't have it in her anymore.
