Happy cold December morning. I told Mark we forgot it's winter, having had such a mild November. The two part time house cats are officially snuggling in for the winter. Their sister, Mona, still, after all these years, refuses to come inside. The tripod kitty and her three siblings were born to a stray older kitten in the barn Mother's Day 2015. Jigs became a full-time house kitty years ago after the injury which left her a tripod. She got her name because her coat pattern looked like a jigsaw puzzle. The two boys got names based on color and coat pattern. The Black and Tabby. I know, so original. After naming what seems millions of animals I just gave in and went for the obvious.
Today being Monday, the washing machine is doing its thing in the room next to my office. My one constant, Monday laundry. Fascinating, right? I stopped decorating for Christmas after I developed debilitating back pain. Last year I did decorate, more than I had when I was still doing it. I am thinking of doing at least some. It is only the two of us now but I like all the sparkles so why not do what I can, if I want to. I'll see if the spirit moves me.
I used two leftovers for dinner. Pork chop and pearled emmer.

Hey Sandra - I can relate to the back pain. I recall a time when walking was difficult. Not fun.
Sipping my cuppa, dressed, laundry swooshing about and soon after, I'll add strong flour, yeast, salt, local maple and water to the stand mixer. Then let Stan do the work.
Named him Stan, the mixer. lol. I amuse easily.
Very cool on the cats and wishing you a lovely winter day. Snowy here and very, very nice.
Yes, winter has hit our area also. It's been quite a bit colder than normal. I don't decorate for holidays like I used to but do still add enough for the needed cheer. Have a wonderful day.
I'm doing laundry, Christmas baking, and Jack is home sick. Still need to get the tree up.
I like cats but I hate cleaning their litter boxes and I hate arguing with Bagheera over the weather outside. So much complaining.
Just don't get a crick in your back hanging decorations, that's all I'm saying.
The laundry never ends.
We don't decorate anymore, either. No small humans in our family, and my own small humans are adults who don't live here anymore. I gave them the decorations they wanted a few years back, things they enjoyed as kids. My work here is done.
No gifts, either. None of us need anything.
All your kitties seem to be happy and healthy and who doesn't want to just lie around in front of a warm fire this time of year?
We don't decorate down here --- I love my every day life so don't feel the urge. ❤️
Stan! Of course you named the mixer Stan 😄 We are also having snow. Enjoy your baking day, Ivy.
We are actually having weather closer to the normal I knew, Lori. I probably won't do as much as last year. My sinuses are giving me some misery.
Ha! I have 4 litter boxes to clean daily, Pixie. Good thing I don't mind. It's been a long time since I've done any Christmas baking. Things change.I hope Jack recovers soon.
That is excellent advice, Boud.
I sure enjoy the fire, Ami. Yes, when there isn't anyone else around the urge for decorating sort of goes away. I'm not feeling it at this time.
You are one contented person, Cheerful. I think my new mantra will be, be like Cheerful!
Jen and Andy decorate! I try not to get involved. Storm coming in tomorrow morning I hear it will be very windy. ")
That's a real sweet photo a the top, and you second photo, yum! Lucky kitties being so loved and taken care of. Do you think Mona will ever come inside? I hope your back pain will go away quickly. After carrying a couple of heavy boxes last week, should know better but still, I also have some back pain. Hope yours disappears quickly. I am in the middle of decorating our tree. I seem to get later and later each year but I love to see it all lit up. Have a cozy rest of the day. Love the look of your fireplace in that lovely room.
What a nice photo of Mike and Black!
Your food always looks so inviting.
I miss my little colored lights around the window! Don't know where they are. Leah wants to get me different ones because the old ones lift little marks on the walls, I guess. I said--fine with me! I miss my cheerful lights! Have them up year round. But don't do anything that will set your back off. ;)
Nothing wrong with left overs.
We sold/gave away many of our Christmas decorations. I miss having some of them...but I realize I don't have as much energy to put them out and then put them away again. But..I do love the season and the anticipation...of what? At my age...nothing different!!
Hi Sandra, I hope you get some relief from the back pain. Your pork chop dinner looks scrumptious! I love the photo of Mike and Black! Beautiful and heartwarming.
I am so intrigued that many still see Monday as wash day. I do laundry several times a week, because Larry goes through a LOT of clothes! Man gets dirty as can be every day.
Such a sweet photo at the top, Sandra. Andy our meal looks completely delicious.
As for decorating, well, some do a lot and some do none, but in the end ,Christmas comes whatever we do! It's usually just Larry and I that see our decorations but we still do it because we enjoy the sparkle, as you say! Some years we do more, some less. And I am very slowly downsizing what I have. Just really dont need it all.
I'm still playing with my lights and chair and tree. It occupies my time and only takes up a small corner of the tiny house.
That said, do what pleases you. I'm learning to do that myself.
I hope you manage to get all your Christmas decorations up despite the back pain. We still put up Christmas decorations even though like you it's just the two of us.
I will get somethings done, nick. It's good you two do decorate.
That's perfect, Far Side. You get the enjoyment without the work!
The cats do adore Mark, Denise. I'll do something, I just have to start. There is the problem! I'm sorry about your back. It's miserable. That is my favorite winter room.
I know you like your twinkles, Rita! Leah is a busy person.
I love leftovers, Dora!
I also love the season, mostly because I like winter, Dreaming! I enjoy the early darkness and a warm fire. That's funny, anticipation of Santa, right? 😉
I like to do stir fry with leftover protein, Linda. It stretches a little into a full meal. The cats adore him.
Sue, I started having a specific day for washing clothes because I was overloaded with work with the horses and people. I needed to have everything planned because things very often went off the rails! The only planning I have retained is Monday laundry. I can see why Larry would go through lots of clothes, just based on the amount of gardening you do. I get something done with decorating, probably not a lot, but that's ok.
I LOVE your Christmas chair, Val. You have an active, creative mind. Why aren't you my neighbor?
I'd be over a lot and it would drive you crazy, that's why! LOL
Tis a hardy, perhaps foolhardy, cat who roams outdoors in this weather. Baby, it's cold outside. 😊
Oh ya, baby, it sure is! They have a warm barn and a hay loft full of hay and cubbies, AC. This is why so many strays end up here in winter.
I doubt you'd drive me crazy. It could be the other way around.
I love that Monday laundry is your one constant haha! And I'm sorry about the back pain, that really puts a damper on the season.
Thank you, Amelia.
I cracked myself up when I named him, Stan. lolololololol. Silly fun. Hope you're having a warm day. It's cold here but a nice cold, with snow falling and then also melting at the same time. Very odd mixture.
You are a hoot, Ivy!!
lol
