This is what the cats have been doing during this excessive heat.
Today is our last extreme heat day, or so they say. Fingers crossed it is. We are still under a smoke alert. My area is under the 'bad' warning. The horses are staying in the barn again today, both for heat and air quality. Without a breeze the heat, combined with the smoke and those flies that grab on and won't let go, the geriatric club stays in the barn. They don't care as long as there is hay and water. They are barn babies.
I have an appointment at the end of the month at a spine clinic. I have little doubt about what is wrong but I'll get a definitive answer then. I have an appointment with my primary the next day. That will be interesting.
I think I may spend the day like Frieda.
Otherwise there is nothing of interest. Mark attended a funeral for a classmate this week. He grew up in a small southwestern town in Minnesota. His went to school with the same kids from kindergarten through to graduation. This is the eleventh to die out of a class of thirty. I had a class of about four hundred. To say we came from different universes would not be far from wrong. He keeps in contact with them through their frequent class reunions and funerals.

We are back into normal summers days for now -- quite pleasant really.
I have never attended any sort of reunion even as a teacher.
Neither have I, AC. I have no idea about anyone I went to school with.
Frieda’s got the right idea she’s conserving energy like a true pro.
I hope the heat and smoke finally let up so everyone, including the geriatric barn crew, can catch a break.

Smart kitty Frieda! I wish you good news after your trip to the spine clinic. The air quality here is very bad right now and we have been told to stay indoors. Sorry about your husband’s old classmate. We have had quite a few also.
I do hope you get relief from the heat and the smoke! But it's good that the horses are barn babies. 😊
Cats have a thing or two to teach us. I can't imagine reuniting with anyone I went to school, or uni, with! One of my friends just got back from Germany, her high school reunion, very happy to go.

Frieda is no fool, Denise! The air quality is better and it's cooled down some but still stifling humidity. For someone who went to a large high school I don't know what it's like to know everyone like he does.

Either can I, Boud. He grew up in a different world. That reunion for your friend must have been wonderful and perhaps emotional.
I am so glad to see most of my blog friends are getting to the end of the heat. Now for the fires to go out! Your poor horses are wise to stay in the barn.

I'm counting on getting some kind of diagnosis, Sue. My horses are out all day when the weather is suitable, but they are used to being in the barn when it isn't and are calm and ok with that. They just want their hay. Now if we could only lose the humidity. I feel like I'm back in Georgia.
Sounds like your hubby knows no strangers Sandra. I on the other hand am an introvert and quite content with it, lol! Good luck on the weather getting cooler. I'm hoping for the same here and it seemed to me it was a bit less yesterday. Fingers crossed for both of us :)
We have had it all in NH, the smoke, heat and humidity and now we are getting some rain which hopefully will clear everything out.
