Blackberries

While at Costco I picked up blackberries, something I haven't had in I don't know how long. This recipe called itself a cobbler but I wouldn't call it that. Anyway, whatever it's called it's good. I have developed, at my advanced age, a sweet tooth. My thought is that I'm stressed, depressed and all around out of sorts. Somehow, not only eating, but baking desserts is comforting for me. I am cutting the recipes in half.

We are an ice rink. Melting during the day, freezing at night. I won't be making anymore adventures until this changes. My balance is terrible. I don't need a broken hip. I have been using the treadmill and my little peddler machine to help build lower body strength. I faced a tough fact recently. I'm not getting younger and there will be no magic wand waved over my head to fix me. I need to dig into myself and find a thread of the very determined person I once was.

Back to food. I bought steelhead trout, a favorite of mine, yesterday. I've been depriving myself because the cost soared and I balked. I gave in yesterday. So that is happily tonight's dinner. Fascinating, I know.

That blackberry dessert looks delicious. I've always had a sweet tooth and even looming diabetes hasn't swayed me.
There is an exercise called the sit stand, it's also a measurement of health. You sit in a chair and stand up, no arms, as many times as you can in 30 seconds. You should be able to do 10-15 of them. It's also excellent exercise for your quads.

I hear you loud and clear. Balance and a bit of leg strength goes a long way to helping you stay independent.
There is a ton of stress out there, I know.

We have had the same melt - thaw going on. Lucky for us the girls have a large area that is completely melted off. They will be mud puppies by this afternoon.

I had blackberries recently, just with yogurt. But I'm thinking of a blueberry clafouti today.
I second Pixie about sit to stand. Its an excellent exercise, one my PT says is almost the most important you can do. He added in an overhead lift with a dumbbell in the same movement. It keeps you able to walk, get on and off the toilet, climb stairs, all kinds of useful skills.

Very wise to stay put when there's ice everywhere, especially if you already have balance problems.

Yes, I need to get out and exercise more...I've let myself go to pot (belly that is!) My son shared this video relating to your ice. It made me giggle (I guess because it's cold here, but we don't have the ice!) https://www.tiktok.com/@accuweather/video/7603404456755088654?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7543332007444006413
