Fretting Over Frieda

Yesterday was busy. It started with a vet visit for Frieda. I noticed she was constantly in her litter box squatting but nothing was happening. She has a urinary tract infection, perhaps kidney stones and another perhaps...kidney problems. We decided to wait on the expensive blood work until she finishes the antibiotic for her infection. No sense in looking further until then. As of yet, she won't eat the prescribed food. The other two think it's grand. There is nothing like a wallet emptying vet visit to start the day.

Mid afternoon I decided to mow. The mower had gone back to Bill a couple of months ago, something wrong with the mower deck. Then Bill was told he needed surgery on his eyes to release pressure from glaucoma, so he didn't work on it. To my surprise he brought it back a few days ago. So, although windy and overcast, I decided to mow. The place was really shaggy, it's so much better now. Today I plan to trim the bushes forming a hedge along the east end of the house. They are also a mess. My property may not look abandoned anymore! This extended fall weather is a real bonus.

That's pretty good, getting the yard cut back. now the growing season is ended, it will stay neat. I hope Frieda has a uti, not worse, I mean.

Boud, yes it will. Yay! Frieda won't eat the prescription food. I mixed some of the regular food with it, hopefully she will eat. She also got canned food, which she will not touch. Giving her meds is a really job.

Giving meds to cats can be next to impossible!
We used to put meds in a spoonful of Gerber Chicken baby food. Our pets gobbled it off the spoon. Smelled nasty, and they loved it.
Having small pets are $$$$$$$$$$.

Hope that Freida will react favorably to the medication if you can get her to take it that it. Too bad you can't talk to her to convince her that if she doesn't take the meds then it could mean surgery, but then we all know that felines do not really listen to humans, do they?

Will she eat chicken canned or boiled? That may help with the meds. I'm sorry she has apparent kidney issues and hope the blood work isn't terrble, and yes, the bills can wreak havoc on your wallet. I am so sorry.

Val, Frieda becomes vicious. Body parts are clawed! Frieda is extremely fussy and suspicious. She would never take meds in food. She won't eat the canned food from the vet, nor the prescription food. Small animal vets are expensive.

Beatrice, no they don't. She is a banshee when it comes to attempting stick that syringe in her mouth.

e, she won't eat food if the med is in it. She is not cooperative. You certainly have experience in the vet department. I'm hoping we won't need the blood work, but I know that we likely will.

I hope the antibiotics work on Frieda! You must be so happy to have your lawn mower back....just in time before the weather changes. We continue to have mild weather too. You sound pretty perky!

Wrap her in a towel with only her head sticking out to administer meds...poor Frieda hope the meds help. Yes Vet bills are very expensive.

Lori, so do I. I got the lawn mowed and the mower is put away for the season. We are now having a weather change, returning to normal temps.

Far Side, that does help, if we could catch her. She is wary and suspicious. She missed last nights dose because we couldn't get ahold of her and then she hid. I need a plan B

I just came back and read your comment. Cats are very wary and agreed!!! Small animal vets are insanely pricey.
But since there is no insurance and no Medicare or other programs [poor pet insurance] the costs are directly paid by pet owners.
It is easy to rack up over $500 for one visit with diagnostics and prescriptions.

Val, I just saw this. Yes, it easily can. She’s settled a bit for her Ned, if we can get ahold of her! Sandra
