Good Morning

We have mild weather and sunshine. Minnesotans love to talk (complain) about the weather. I came to find farmers are particularly experienced in the fine art of weather complaints. With reason I will concede. Come to think of it, I've honed my skills. So, weather out of the way.

I don't know how but the last day of cleaning my office I managed to pull a groin muscle. Ouch! For those old enough to know who I'm talking about, I spent several days swinging my leg like Gunsmokes Chester Goode. That pain brings a person to their knees. All better now.

I did manage to make a loaf of buckwheat bread. I do like buckwheat. I'm waiting on King Arthur to deliver a large flour order, I'm down to nubbins' here. As you can see, life has been uneventful.

I did find a new piece of artwork in the powder room. Is it even called this anymore? Spidey has been hanging, no pun intended, on the wall for a few days, same spot. It is alive, I've checked. I don't kill them. They don't bother me so I give them the same courtesy.

Neighbor Bill gave me some peppers which I sauteed with onion to smother a pork chop. Some calorie busting potatoes, onions and feta round the meal off.

I leave spiders alone usually. They're taking care of insects for me.
That meal looks so great.
I'm glad you're feeling better. Now you see how dangerous it is to clean.

I'm okay with spiders, as long as they're outside, like god intended:)
Your meals always look so colourful and beautiful.

Your meal looks delicious and wholesome. Spiders are very helpful at killing other insects such as mosquitoes which is a good thing.

I loving your living art! I hope he finds enough to eat! I visited my friend in the NE and we went to King Arthur's. It was quite a treat. I had a wee bit of trouble going through security. They had to inspect my packaged goods with all of that powdery white stuff!

I am sorry about your pulled muscle, but your comment about Chester made me laugh. It also remined me about Grandpa McCoy's walk in The Real McCoy's show tv.
I do not kill spiders either, I have put them outside in the summer in potted plants.
Plus, that is a lovely horse painting.
Take Care,
Kaye

I have learned my lesson, Boud. Leave well enough alone!

Thanks, Pixie. I move them if I'm having company otherwise I let them do what they do.

Thank you Linda. They are good for that. Sometimes the cats also find them an interesting toy.

Living in the country as we do, they seem to find an abundance of chow, Dreaming. I bet you had trouble with security!

Chester popped into my head as I was attempting to get around. I had to put the leg out to the side and bring it forward. He flashed across my mind! After Ari died a friend a an artist friend of hers paint it for me. I treasure it. I put it in the kitchen bathroom Bec cause it won't get lost among all the others on the wall. You can't miss it, Kaye.

Sorry about your injury. These things can happen so unexpectedly and take a while to heal but I hope yours is fast. We don't get rid of spiders either. They tend to keep the unwanted insects down anyhow, cycle of life and all that. I use King Arthur's flour too. Keep hearing it is the best and by the look of your buckwheat bread, I should say that's a ringing endorsement. Your meal looks scrumptious too!

I'm glad your groin is better! That dinner looks scrumptious. :)

Sorry to hear about the injury-hope recovery’s going smoothly. The bread looks great. I’ve had a tough spider experience (my son was hospitalized from a bite), so I tend to be cautious, but I love how you let them live peacefully.

Ouch to the groin! I have been walking like Chester too and even used my cane one day. Glad you are on the mend. I need one of your dinners!

I could never clean hard enough to injure a muscle! You are a whirlwind! I hope it is better.
Your pork chop looks fabulous!

We've had some large spiders in the house recently but like you we don't kill them, we just leave them to perambulate. They're not doing any harm.

Yes. I have no idea what I had done, Denise. It's all better now, thankfully. I used to buy flour from Great River Mill but they stopped selling directly. It's been King Arthur since. The company seems to be a good one. I do like sautéed peppers and onions.

Sandra said...

All better, Cheerful. The dinner was good.

Sandra said...

I seem to be all healed up, Jane. If we have those kind of spiders here I'm not aware of it. Spiders in the house tend to be harmless daddy longlegs.

Sandra said...

We have several things in common Lori. How many people can walk like Chester! I don't have a guest bedroom but I do have a decent air mattress.

Sandra said...

You got that right, AC.

Sandra said...

It didn't happen because I was cleaning that hard, Miss Merry! I can assure you of that. I likely moved wrong. The pork chop was kind of the afterthought, peppers and potties took front stage,

They fascinate the cats, nick.

Before I went Keto I used to favor King Arthur's and Bob's Red Mill for flours and grains. Bob's Red Mill is easier to find up here in the Midwest, I find. So I made orders by mail for King Arthur.

Leah and I both have spider phobias (worse than mine). I have a bee/wasp phobia, too. I never want them in my house. Outside--I leave them alone and they leave me alone. I have always tried to do catch and release. I have had cats in the past that would eat spiders and other bugs. Those japanese beetles that look like orange ladybugs--make them puke.

Sandra! Your bread looks AMAZING! I just got my oven back and bread making is on the menu. I would like to finally get into making my own starter. That to me, sounds like so fun. Have you ever done a how-to to start a starter? I would love to learn from you.

Sandra said...

There isn't a chance I good be on a keto diet, Rita. It's a good thing I don't need to be, cuz I would fail! Bob's red Mill is in stores but I need larger bags than they sell. Frieda bats the spiders if she can reach them.

Sandra said...

Thank you, Ivy. I quit messing with starter about a decade ago. Yes, I like sourdough bread. No, I do not have the patience for tending starter! I have a short supply of patience and it seemed I was spending a lot of it with discarding and feeding the starter. Lots of people enjoy it, I'm not one of them. This is a really good tutorial if you are interested https://www.theclevercarrot.com/2014/01/sourdough-bread-a-beginners-guide/

Nope after a few bad spider bites I squish them! Nice looking bread!

Granny Sue said...

The bread looks downright edible. About spiders...well, I am not quite so kind, but if they are outside, I leave them be. I figure, their space, my space!

The Happy Whisk said...

Thank You! I have some books with stuff about it but wanted to learn directly from you. Thank you though for the link. Super thoughtful and helpful.

Sandra said...

All you would learn from me is I don’t have the patience for tending starter! I’d rather let the dough ferment for a day or three in the refrigerator. The flavor is close to sourdough.
