Howard and Grace have company for a few days. This sweet faced girl is staying with us for a short time. She's a very good old girl who lost a hind leg in an accident several years ago. She doesn't let that stop her though, she gets around and enjoys her life. Her name is Mackie, sometimes called Yackie cause she likes to bark at nothing every now and again.
The effort it takes to be a good host to his guest makes Howard thirsty. Good thing there's a bird bath available when a boy needs one! Hosting a friend makes a guy parched.
Entertaining Mackie and seeing to her needs as his guest puts a fellow in the mood for an afternoon nap. This stuff about being an engaged and polite host isn't all he thought it would be. Grace left all the work to Howard. It's not easy being two and responsible for the houseguest. You never can count on a Greyhound.

Mackie looks like a sweetheart and how lucky she was to have owners that loved her enough to continue on when she lost her leg. Now Howard looks like the perfect host and must be the guy that makes sure everything has it's place...keeping the girls happy..LOL!

I used to feel like animals who stayed with others were at camp. It's different and probably like being on vacation for them.

What a sweetheart Mackie is and poor Howard, he's wearing himself out isn't he?! What a cute pic of him sleeping. :-)
Dogs need a vacation too....We are watching our neighbors Chocolate Lab Jake. He loves staying with us...but boy is he lots of work!

Howard is doing a great job. I think he needs a special dinner for all his efforts.
Mackie goes home today, so Howard will be able to relax. Grace has been a terrible host, good thing we have the Basset. : )
Mackie is indeed lucky to have such gracious hosts as Sandra and Howard to watch over her. We call it 'sleep away camp'.
